Friends, it’s a surreal seasonal change and I have some super weird things to show you!
So let’s start with this very special unicorn from Dace! Dace is Canadian and had disappeared for a while (I thought), but it turns out that designer Dace Moore had moved on to designing for Kit & Ace and Aritzia! Gulp. No big deal. Aritzia asked me to design for them and I was all “that’ll just cut into my blizzard eating time….can I interest you in a dress design with a glob of DQ ice cream on it?”.
This top has that modern boxy shape that I really love, but this one is also cashmere! And for those who find wool itchy, this one is lined! Let me tell you why I find this thrilling though, friends; this shirt could have been done cheaply and unlined, but a very conscious design decision was made here so that this garment could be as functional as possible (which we see alot of in Kit & Ace now that I think of it). That’s excellent mindful designing and pride of finished garment.
Friends, I have a soft spot for waxed canvas. Mostly because to me a waxed canvas bag is excellent for carrying knitting projects in! This gorgeous handmade bag is designed by super-creative bike commuters from Moop. (That’s right, just like the ones that invaded Spain in the 8th century that we learned about on Seinfeld! Ha! Can’t think of anything else now, right?). This crossbody bag is call “The Paperbck”. Friends, I am swooning! What a great name for a bag!
I am mesmerized by this one loopy leather-button detail…..
….so you can fold you “Paperback” as needed!
This practical bag will hold your Mom Wallet, bottle of mosquito repellent (why? From where? How long have I had this in my bag?!), first aid pouch, knitting project WITH pointy needles just hanging out anywhere, and your reusable mask can slide into the pocket on the back!
Ready for the most fall/back-to-school thing EVER? Like a brown corduroy 2 piece?! Ok, we are selling them in the shop separately, but they came in together and I really hope that they meet their destiny together (and that I am there to see it!). Now, to be clear, this J. Crew, so this is not a joke, these are very serious garments!
This is a hair pin. A hair pin is handmade from wood and leather and then painted!
The petals are leather (I KNOW!) and are so gorgeous. I wish I had 3 of these and I would wear them all at once!
So…no…..wait…..it can’t be…….ANOTHER 2 piece suit?! Friends, is this a whole other take on the Canadian Tuxedo or what?
But seriously, friends, this is actually super cool! Look how well designed those pants are with the wide leg and the contrast stitching. Wear it with the boxy shirt tied in the front and you are looking awesome! I also hope that I am present when someone tried this on!
Check out all the tiny details on these handmade earrings from Israeli artist Ayala Bar! They are so pretty with the twinkly beads, but also have a sort of industrial trash-heap feel. I mean “industrial trash-heap” that in the best possible way! Each element was obviously chosen with care, but I love how it also looks spontaneous and like it was made from reclaimed pieces that were lying around.
Here’s Alex showing us the hair-pin in action! This is much better than when I find knitting needles that I nested in my hair for safe-keeping and then forgot about!
Well, friends, the shop is packed with incredible fall and winter stuff, you have to come down and see for yourself! Oooooo, and big news: we are now able to deliveries again! You know what that means……more Dairy Queen! And I can get a LARGE because the kids will be in school and I won’t have to explain why they get minis and my “mini” looks different. (Answer: it’s because they are seeing it from the back seat! The perspective is off! If they were in the front seat the blizzards would look the same size! NO YOU CAN NOT SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT).
Alex will be in the shop on Thursday if you want her to model the hair-pin for you in real life, chat about jogging and get a lesson in mixing patterns, and I will be in on Saturday if you want to talk about how to remove ice-cream stains from your shirt!
