Friends, winter-summer clothes transition is tricky enough, but add the pandemic-wardrobe to the mix and I’m walking around my house wearing a Ralph Lauren blazer, checked pantaloons from a costume of a community theatre play I did 12 years ago and what turned out to be my daughter’s old Brownie uniform top turned inside out. So, let’s look at some normal clothes!
(You can buy any of these in our online shop, and we are delivering free within Edmonton!)
From our local faves Oak & Fort! I am loving how simple this dress is! It totally gives off that chique effortless vibe but also bring drama. I’m seeing this with gladiator sandals, Doc Marten boots or some wicked Trippen shoes for 3 different looks!
Friends, I don’t make up the sizes. The side eyeball is for Oak & Fort and their “one size” sizing. But the advantage, if you choose to see it this way, is that you will never feel like your body is changing from, say, an unexpected global incident that has the side effect of eating an entire bag of kettle chips everyday while watching Judge Judy even though you promised you would stop doing it but you figure that if you only have one glass of wine instead of, um, 5 per day then that should really cancel out and you should just go ahead and eat the kettle chips but when the bag is empty you remember that during the afternoon you cracked into the very secret stash of leftover Halloween candy that you kept in the garage so really nothing got cancelled out and you figure you may as well have that second or fifth glass of wine and also a cheese string since your kid isn’t eating packed lunches either but it doesn’t matter because the Oak + Fort dress is “OS” and will fit you forever.
I mean, I see what they are going for with the design and the simple tie at the waist, and I am not opposed to it in this particular style.
Nubby, casual cotton finish on this one.
Get ready to start prancing around your house pretending to be Katherine Hepburn in these awesome pants from Kit & Ace!
Look at ALL THE PLEATS!
I am so excited to explore this bejewelled purse with you!
Now don’t go thinking this purse is embroidered or has an intricate print. Oh no. This one is all beads and sequins!!!!!!
Can you see how it is all *different* beads making up the flowers? That makes this purse even MORE magical! And I must say that for a “beaded” purse it is not too “crafty”, if that makes sense. It’s elegant and sophisticated and you could use it as an evening bag or an everyday-compliment-me purse!
But let’s get serious now, friends, and move onto Important Purse Specs. This purse sands up by itself (check) and has a generous base and gusset (which is key to a roomy bag. You could have a huge bag that is flat or has minimal width and you could not put anything in it).
And there are two seperate compartments. Great! But onto the most important part…
….this purse will fit your mom-wallet, hand cream, keys to 3 cars you don’t even own anymore, your favourite reusable Baggu bag, medicine pouch (need Advil? Got it! Need a Band-aid? Got those too! Want the cure to vampirism that will allow you to be human again and finish out your days with your one true mortal love? Of course!) and two packs of gum.
Will not fit your knitting though. Sad trombone.
This beautiful light blue top is silk! It is so stunning, you better get ready for the compliments!
I keep thinking this print is clouds (this top has cloud vibes!), but it’s fireworks and……a mall? An airport?
How great would it look with the Kit and Ace pants?!
And since we have silk and clouds on the brain, behold this beauty!
The square neckline and pebbled bust read as casual and something you would wear to frolic in a meadow, but because it’s silk the whole of the piece reads much smarter than that.
The back is trying hard to be casual too with this neat criss-coss detail, but, again, it’s not fooling anyone in real life.
Hey PS regarding silk: we ordered some Eucalan soap for Red Pony! Sometimes when you are purchasing a fibre like silk or wool and you ask me how to wash it, Eucalan is the answer. I wash my silks with no problems. Start with the small bottle if you are unsure (the jasmine is so lovely, but I also love the grapefruit!) and let me know how it goes for you!
Teeny tiny alert!!!!!!!
It’s a helpful hammer and ladder necklace!
I just love this, friends. The mood here is uplifting and industrious, and I feel like we don’t see these kinds of pendants. I love how original and refreshing this is!
How tiny are they, you ask? This tiny!
(The hammer looks a little silver in the pics, but in real life has more of a gold-tone.)
Remember the fox dress from a few weeks ago? How about ANOTHER fox dress?! (Size alert: this is listed as a large but looks more like a medium to me.)
I like how cartoony but earnest these foxes are!
Oooooooo, I love me a thick belt! You know who’s in charge? The person wearing the thick belt!
I love when belts have this organic flow though a buckle. For most belts the buckle is the star of the show, but I think on this belt it’s the gorgeous leather that’s really standing out to me.
But here’s the best part! The “I Need Love” heart patch would sit right in the small of your back! So cute and also a secret message!
Ok, we are going to go on another exploration with this cardigan, which is silk AND cashmere. First, I love this longish/oversized look and those gold buttons, but this has something unexpected…..
When you open it, there’s ANOTHER cardigan inside!! (On a human the under-cardigan peaks up over the top of the v, but not so much on this hanger.)
BUT WAIT!! It turns out the under-gan is actually a FAUX-cardigan (a fauxdigan?) and the front panels are attached to the sides of the sweater!! This is so weird and I am eating it up!
Ready to be soothed?
Awwwwwww, sleepy koala striped J Crew Sweater. Cuuuuuuute! (This is cotton sweater, so great for spring!)
Aaaaaaaaannnndd you can wear it with the Kit and Ace pants!
Friends, I hope you are doing ok out there. I am busy these days with deliveries (I love seeing and chatting with you!) and Bachelor: Listen to your Heart. I also realized that, sadly, my kids’ have no technological literacy beyond video games; when I asked my 11 year old to log into her school email she screamed back at me “WE DON’T HAVE SCHOOL EMAIL, WE ONLY HAVE G-MAIL!”. Haha, too funny!
Red Pony is hanging in there thanks to your support and online orders, and I checked in with our East Whyte neighbours to see how they are doing: the Travelling Tickle Trunk luckily had a well established online system so they were able to make the transition smoothly and offer daily curbside pickup, Bombshell Tattoo are focusing on creating art which you can purchase through the artists’ Instagrams, the K & K is killing it with curbside pick-up orders (orders need to be placed 48 hours in advance, so be organized!) and Acoustic Music Shop is doing online music lessons and retail with free deliveries within Edmonton. (So that means you could get that jewelled purse, the Kit & Ace pants and a new guitar delivered all at the same time!)
Friends, I can’t remember what day it is or, more importantly, if I took a shower today or was that yesterday(?!), so there will probably be no blog next week (or there will be one in 3 days because it will feel weeks have passed!), but Iet’s meet back here in 2 weeks or wave to each other through two panes of glass in your lobby when I deliver your parcel!
