The store is just PACKED with stuff that I love right now, friends, and I want a super long blog post to share it all with you! However, I also have 3 hours of weekly Bachelor in Paradise to catch-up on, so I’ll have to cut some things out (and you’ll have to come in and see them for reals yourself!).
Now, it’s going to get controversial here for a sec, friends, but, well, not really, we’ll see. You see, we have TWO cropped, black Oak+Fort jackets in Red Pony, and one is getting more attention than the other. So far, this scuba-foam modern bomber is getting a lot of love.
HOWEVER, I would like to make the case for its super cool, under-dog rival: The Other Black Coat.
I don’t know if it’s because this one is less “sleek” than the scuba-bomber, but I think its industrial, boxy cut and janitor vibe is what makes it that much cooler! Those exaggerated front pockets and that zipper cover are totally in keeping the minimalist/futurist look that Oak+Fort does so well!
Ok, friends, I think I might be having a mom-wallet orgasim! Not only is this the MOTHER of all mom-wallets (see what I did there?), but it’s a Matt & Nat mom wallet! I don’t even need to look inside to know how practical and roomy this one is; those double zippers already say “Don’t sweat it, harried parent, I have anticipated all your needs”!
Yesssssssss! An entire compartment completely dedicated to all my cards….and the cards of every member of my family….and expired picture IDs where I look good in the photo so I can’t get rid of them!
AND THEN…gasp…another compartment with….16 more card slots!!!!!! And I haven’t even touched on the hidden sleeves to organize all your receipts, Red Pony gift cards, emergency cheque and mom-I-don’t-know-what-to-do-with-this-gum-wrapper wrappers!
Ooooooo, would that this sweater fit me, friends! I love how they’ve somehow softened the boxiness with this cardigan. And it’s not that the colour is not particularly unusual, but there is something very warm and somehow vibrant to the brown here. This one is absolutely gorgeous!
Hey, remember last week when we had Frye boots in the shop? Well, now there’s more! These beauties are Frye’s quintessential Campus short boot. The Campus boot is the what immediately comes to mind when I hear “Frye”. They actually came in with the tall Campus boot in the same “banana” colour (that is seriously what Frye names this lovely golden leather. Banana. Seriously, Frye, let’s get that marketing team into some music lessons to boost creativity or something), but they flew out of here as fast as they came in!
As always with Frye, the more patina the better!
Friends, it’s been a while since we’ve done a deep dive and there is so much to examine in this awesome top from Aritzia! First off, like that cardigan^, this colour also has a can’t-put-my-finger on it quality. It’s not quite brown, and now quite plum, but it is lovely, warm and familiar. (Hmmmm, I wonder what the marketing team at Frye would call this colour? Probably something like “sponge” or “car door”.)
The “print” here is all threaded embroidery, and there is so much dimension to the image. It’s a busy image, yet the top itself as a whole is uncomplicated and easy to wear.
This is from the right sleeve. Does anyone else see a mermaid?
There’s an image on the back as well, and you’ll note those cranes…..
….are the same as the ones on the left sleeve.
Weeeeeeee, always so thrilling when we get Doc Martens in Red Pony! These are the 8053s, the Gaucho Crazy Horse, with padded ankle and grainy, oiled leather for a great worn/vintage look.
For some reason I am so enthralled by the hangdog laces! I assumed the consignor had added these laces after removing the brown laces, but actually these multi-coloured, I-can’t-believe-my-mom-made-me-wear-these came with the shoe, so it’s a legit design choice from Doc Marten!
This sweater makes me so happy for some reason!
Seriously, you’re smiling right now, right?
Unexpectedly, friends, this serious skirt is a Fridget skirt! And you know what that means……tap your pen three times on your desk, honk your horn or roll your eyes becaaaaaauuuuuse….I KNOW HER! I mean, maybe we don’t talk or haven’t seen each other in years and she doesn’t even follow me or Red Pony on Instagram, but I DO KNOW HER.
Anyhoo, a witchy wiggle skirt!
And check out that dramatic black-on-black herringbone! And it has pockets!
Get ready for our special treat this week: Rag and Bone! These jeans are marked as 31, but I have verified with several of you that these are NOT 31s, they fit like a 27/28.
We saw this one in the backroom a few weeks ago, and it delivers!
True.
Plus the back:
Hey, my call out for more men’s clothing worked and we’ve got a bunch of great new stuff in! Like an illustrated turntable diagram!
Want to see what Kennedy (who you can visit with at Red Pony on Mondays! And Wednesday mornings!) is into this week? She paired this rugged camo jacket with a sweet and soft Oak+Fort dress “to throw everyone off!”.
In the sale section we have some Free People, people!
Friends, are you going to the Wardrobe Exchange this weekend? Such a great event, and it’s so cool that so many people are into it! I’m at Red Pony all day Saturday, so come by when you are done and show me all the things you scored!
