Friends, you know how sometimes I like things that are just a little weird? Maybe “just a bit different” is a nicer way of putting it, except that, um, I like things that are weird.
So, remember last week when we looked in the backroom and saw a bunch of Cinder+Smoke? Wellllllllll…….it is even more exciting than I thought it would be! This dress is wool (so cool to get this kind of dress in a winter format!), lined and the skirting is very full, so it swooshes around in such a satisfying way when you walk!
And check out the design details like the asymmetrical seaming across the bust and also……big buttons up the back! But have no fear, friends, although the buttons are functional, this dress also has an invisible zipper up the side.
Ready for the special treat this week? Stuart Weitzman boots!!!!!!!
Such a great shape and sensible, not-too-high heel.
I love the seam down the middle and the matte look! Perfect for fancy-minimalism!
Ooooo, speaking of some sort of fancy minimalism, this cocoon coat would also fit that genre! Great minimalist shape with slightly cropped sleeves (for that touch of awkward that goes hand in hand with minimalist fashion) and oversized structured collar, but then it’s double-breasted. I really love this one, friends!
Two faux-Cowichan sweaters from Aritzia! Look how they did that inside-out knit thing they do on the pink one!
I love this totally dramatic eagle necklace!
It’s HUGE and so detailed and I think you should wear it with a white button down!
Ooooooooo, mustard yellow!
Friends, I want you to wear that top with these pants:
They are so fabulous and weird!! They’re kinda velvety corduroy, but cropped and with an elastic waistband and drawstring!
I hope the colour is coming through on your screens, friends, because this vintage belt is cool not only for it’s 80’s fabulous lean, but also because it’s coral!
Friends, I have been so excited to share this shirt from the men’s section with you!
It’s a Vandelay Industries shirt! Blaaaaaah, I’m dying! If this was a touch smaller I would totally take it for myself!
Here’s what I found in the sales section:
Ok, short blog this week, friends, because our house got broken into and I’m FREAKING OUT. They left our electronics, but stole my grandfather’s vintage watches! And they stole a ring and some necklaces that were from local makers, which makes me so sad because they were unique and I’ll never find the same ones again! And now I have to go out in the world under-accessorized! Gah! But, friends, would you believe that the police came and CSI-ed our house? It was bonkers! They shone a special light over surfaces, put on rubber gloves, bagged things up in clear plastic bags that appeared from nowhere and wrote things down in little notebooks just like on TV! I asked if I could take a picture of them doing all that and got a very stern frown of disapproval for an answer. I got the same police-issued Stern Frown of Disapproval when I asked if one of the officers was 2 days away from retiring and had been partnered with a hot-shot rookie who thinks he knows everything for his last case. Luckily, I learned my lesson after that and did not ask if one of them was an alcoholic who was haunted by a cold case from 20 years ago.
Anyways, everyone is ok, and I guess now I can go get new accessories from all my favourite independent shops and stock up at Royal Bison! I will be in Red Pony on Saturday, friends, so come by and we chat about weird clothes and how police in real life are EXACTLY THE SAME as on TV!
