I had a weird kind of delayed reaction with this one, friends. I was all "Hmmm, a leather jacket....hmmm, it's red.....". And then muuuuuuuuch later I was all "HOLY CRAP, A RED LEATHER JACKET!". How is your screen? Because the red is more of a *tomato* red than a burgundy red. Just all the more cool! Traditional moto jacket style, can be worn all zipped up.....
...or open!
Here's the awesome red heel! Get ready for attention and compliments!
Of course, the star of the show are the coloured discs across the upper! (Asymmetry alert! That vein is starting to pound in your temple...your parasympathetic system is gearing up... all because that one red disc on the right shoe is flipped up when it should be flipped down. How could I be so careless?! I totally understand if you have to go lay down now).
I first grabbed this Wilfred jacket because I thought is was linen (and also because it's so cute), but to my surprise, it's made of hemp!
(Ug, speaking of paralyzing asymmetry, you have no idea how long I spent adjusting these straps so that the dress would hang symmetrically. Two days, friends. I'm not even joking. I went back to retake this picture because the straps did not look right to me. Yes, yes, go lay down again). This dress is made of hand-batiked material, and has that perfect-for-summer elastic scrunching around the bust. (I forgot to check for pockets....because symetry!)
Friends, this dress is getting so much attention in the shop! It's got that floral-on-white summer print, plus butterflies....
...and the perfect-for-summer elastic scrunching I was just talking about!
BUT WAIT! A friend of mine popped into the shop and was drawn like a magnet to this dress. She was all "I looooooooove this..." and then "...wait a minute, I think I own this already?!". And it was the same dress that she already has! Ha, I guess she knows what she likes! Turns out, it's actually from France (the country that beat Belgium in the world cup, but WHATEVER). And since my friend already has this dress, she knew its secret. And the secret is......it does this!
I would have never noticed the little ties on the inside! Thanks for the heads up, Katy!
If you are ready for grown-up summer bag, here it is. This one is brand new, and gets the following gold stars on my personal purse-evaluation system: has a dust bag, cross-body strap, large enough for WWK (wallet-water bottle-knitting) and...
...has little feet! Friends, the little feet are the one detail that makes me fall for purses every time.
Here is this week's special treat: an Alberta Ferretti skirt! This secret gem hiding humbley in plain sight, minding its own business, is linen, so despite its muted colours it is definitely a summer skirt.
I reached for it because it looks like it was made from curtains (my new favourite thing)!
Um, I mean, do I need to say anything about this awesome find?
Hmmm, maybe I'm just really into the red this week? I love the retro feel of the bold geometric pattern, the plunging neck-line....
...and the split bishop-sleeves!
We saw these in the back a few weeks ago, and now here they are in all their spaceship, future-inspired glory! These are just the best, friends; I am literally dying! (Haha)
Yup.
I'm so taken with this dress, friends! (Maybe because it reminds me of a dress I already own?). You know I love the sweet simplicity of a faux two-piece....
...and check out the hint of glamour with the beading and crystals across the top!
Last weekend when I was in Red Pony, someone told me something that opened a whole new aspect to consignment shopping for me! This person came into the shop, and we were chatting about things I love talking about (women owning businesses, the relentless rise of big "outlet" stores in Edmonton, finding fresh water in the event of a zombie apocalypse etc), and she said that one of the things she loves about consignment shopping is that she loves buying something that another woman has lovingly taken care of. Awwwww! What a new and refreshing take! (She also took a striped, bat-wing shirt, tucked it into her high-waisted jeans and swooshed it all the to side -tucked in- in a way that made these big diagonal pleats while cinching in the waist. Friends, I have never seen this done before, and it looked so chique!)
I'll be in the shop on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, so, you know, come by and hang out!
