Friends, I think I have struck just the right balance between "classically simple" and "fascinatingly complex" this week, ifIdosaysomyself.
The stunner this week is this amazing polka-dot, shimmery, swooshy dress! This dress was made for twirling, friends, but also for just standing around looking amazing and humbly accepting compliments! But seriously, thanks to the cut and the weight of the fabric, this dress is actually very elegant, grown-up and flattering on everyone.
Just an easy summer dress (with pockets!)....
...with the most adorable cat print on it EVER!
And, just as fun, salmon coloured shoes from Brit shoe-brand Audley! As always with Audley, the style and shape are playful with a nod to some retro inspiration. (We saw these in green ages ago, too!)
OK, this might look like just a navy blue, a-line skirt; but would it peak your interest if I told you it was Ralph Lauren? There is something exquisitely classic and simple in this skirt. That one bold pleat in the centre is the type of dramatic detail we are used to seeing from minimalist creations, but the Ralph Lauren majic is still alive here and hinting at a more serious down-to-earth look.
And speaking of exquisitely classic, check out these great Tory Burch pumps! I love their "matron-chique" look! The block heel, the black suede and patent leather combo......
...and, of course, the Tory Burch brass logo...in square-form!
There is something so pretty about floral prints on white. I'm getting a real throwback vibe from this suit; maybe because of the floral print matching top and bottom? Either way, this is how summer office wear should be: polished and totally summer-time appropriate! Goodbye trusty pastel-coloured cardigan that hangs on the back of the office chair all summer long, hello short-sleeved blazer! Where have you been all my life?
Our special treat this week, friends, is any one of these three luxury brand belts! We've got two Prada belts and one Louis Vuitton! If you peed your pants a bit just now, trust me, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
The metal hardware on each of the belts are engraved with their respective brand....
....and on the back side the brand is embossed into the leather, per luxury brand standards. There are serial numbers on each of the Prada belts, but not on the LV.....however, let's not underestimate how lazy I am, friends! It feels authentic to me, and I probably did not look hard enough for the serial number. Maybe you can come into the shop and do it for me? Because, you know, I'm lazy?
Check out this cute jumper from Anthropologie!
The delightful embroidery on the bib:
And then there's the unexpectedly detailed design element with the strap-work on the back!
Sleeveless denim shirt, just hanging out being a sleeveless denim shirt:
Nice touch here with the cowboy-boy-ish mother of pearl buttons:
I don't know, friends, these silver shorts just seem fun! And if you look past the camouflage silver leopard print, these also have a structured faux-wrap skirt across the front. I think these are from the future for sure!
Uniqlo; doing simplicity right! I have a real soft spot for Uniqlo because they aren't trying to be anything else but themselves, which I love!
We've got a lot of summer still ahead of us, friends, but I still wanted to share this great Banana Republic cocoon coat for the in-between seasons:
Wear it open at the top, or zip it all the way up. Both looks are super cool, I don't know which I like best!
So we had that sale last weekend, 20% off, right, but the computer completely just UP AND DIED! I had to very calmly put an oxygen mask on and then manually calculate each invoice while trying not to let the stress-sweat drip onto the calculator! Thanks to everyone who was cool and patient about it. (Although I bet some of you were secretly sweating too, worrying that I might freeze up and then YOU would have to try and do math under pressure with an audience!) (Kidding! You are all lovely and very smart people, and we are a team!). This week I will be in on Friday (I KNOW!) and Sunday. That means you can come in and chat with Our Laura on Saturday, and then visit with me on Sunday!
And meanwhile in the backroom, these too-cool-too-cool-I-might-cry-they-are-sooooo-cool pants are patiently waiting to come out:
Seriously, I can barely breathe THEY ARE JUST SO COOL.
See you on Friday, friends!
