Well, friends, now that the royal wedding is over, let's shine the fashion spotlight back on our awesome selves!
These shorts from Anthropologie have pockets (because, really, why make shorts that don't have pockets?!?! Side-eyeball to you, big sporting-goods conglomerate)!
Cartonnier shorts; Size 30, $26
And, there's no surprising you, friends, my favourite thing about these shorts....the elephants!
This very grown-up wrap skirt from Aritzia still has its tags!
Wilfred skirt (NWT); Size M, $52
Not one, but TWO Fossil totes! Let's go down my must-have checklist: stands up on its own (check), room for a giant wallet (check), little feet on the bottom weeeeeeee (check)!
Fossil bags, $85 each
Up for grabs in a plum/burgundy palette or traditional brown and taupe:
Great geometric Uniqlo dress:
Uniqlo dress (NWT); Size S, $36
So at first I thought this sweater was cute, sure, but then I ended up getting sucked into its magical powers! First off, it's cashmere! I love the gamine cut with the short sleeves and the cropped length. The pattern is ringing my new vintage-curtains bell....
HWR sweater; Size M, $28
....and continues across the back (speaks to intention of design and quality). Friends, do I need to incorporate "teapot pattern" into this new category? I'm getting a vague -but super cool- teapot feel off this pattern.
And, surprise no-surprise again, my favorite detail is that playful contrasting button band! I love how it just peaks out, like it's not trying too hard to hide. It signals that although the cardigan has an all around vintage look to, it is a contemporary piece.
Sensible tan flats:
Indigo shoes; Size 6, $36
Totally adorable tee....
Cactus top; Size S, $20
...with succulants on it! My favourite is the leafy one in the new-age minimalism pot!
Well, we could definitely say that this is also a very grown up skirt! A typical Tracy Reese pencil skirt.....
Tracy Reese skirt; Size 6, $68
....with whimiscal sequined dragonflies and yellow flowers!
Last week I wrapped the Smoking Lily sash around this dress (that had more to do with colours than styling; this dress certainly does NOT need a belt!), so let's say hello! This one has the same drop-waist style as the lovely geometric Uniqlo dress, but the Aritzia version has pockets (side-eyeball to you this time, Uniqlo!). This one is also silk! I'm loving how much electric blue I'm seeing these days!
Babaton dress; Size 4, $52
These shoes totally flew under my radar, friends, basically because on the shelf they were all slouchy and droopy and, well, they look like this:
Fiorentini and Baker shoes; Size 6.5, $125
Sigh. Sad trombone.
Then someone came in and tried them on and I was "WHAT THE BLEEP ARE THOSE AND WHY HAVE I NOT BLEEPING NOTICED THEM BEFORE!?!"
Look at how the colour comes alive! It's gorgeous! But the best part is the awesome strap at the ankle! THESE ARE BLEEPING AMAZING! Plus, Red Pony friend Krista said they were soooooooo comfortable!
Thanks Krista!
From our departed friends at Loft 82 who have sent these pants back from the future!
Loft 82 pants; Size S, $42
And just to prove that they have understood and mastered pockets, there is a bonus pocket that is not just a regular pocket...it's a pocket within a pocket....from outer space!
And from their cousins at Oak+Fort, before you get the trombone out again for what appears to be just a slouchy and droopy blob, wait!
Oak+Fort top; Size L, $42
The slouchy blob has exaggerated dropped shoulders! And just like that, it is transformed into an elegant and light summer sweater!
So I guess this week is a good reminder that when shopping at Red Pony, you have to try EVERYTHING on because you just never know what amazingness awaits!
The backroom is thrilling and, gulp, a little overwhelming right now, friends, but check out what I peaked back there: can you see the two-toned lace-up men's shoes in there? They're BRAND NEW Doc Marten's! LOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE!
