This week in the shop, everything is special and nothings is boring! Even things that already seem special are actually extra-special!
Like this cute Anthropologie blazer. It's already delightful but, friends, this is a legit winter blazer: it's wool!
Elevenses; Size S, $30
And I love its unexpected bow detail! Oooo, and also the sweet dotted lining! So feminine, yet this blazer is still all business!
More from Anthropologie! I'm really pleased with this cardigan, friends. I feel like the long-cardigans are in danger of all looking alike and getting boring, but this one is more dynamic with it's subtle asymetrical pattern and colour-work.
Sparrow cardigan; Size S, $32
Weeeeeeeee, how cool are these boots, friends?! The criss-crossing leather laces can wrap around the boot, or up the leg if you dare!
Tsubo boots; S6.5, $68
So first off, as soon a I see this kind of a tag -handwritten- I know the garment has spent meaningful time in human hands and is something special!
Melissa Ferreira is the designer behind Vancouver's Adhesive Clothing. All the clothes are made from up-cycled/recycled materials (which we love!). Every piece is hand-made and unique. (Friends, I watched her little video, and it was like she made the video for me! It's all "these buttons are from the 1920's" and "let's look at the lining of this coat" and "here are the back details" etc. Basically all the things I love!). So, her garment that we have in the shop looks like a nice enough black top from the front.....
Adhesive top; Size M, $26
...but check out the amazingly gorgeous back!
Did you see these Fluevog boots on our IG? Here's a closer look and my completely unqualified Flue-nalysis: from the Adrian family, this boot is the Agnes. Similar in style to the Cece (which I have)(two of) without the F-sole, low-heeled Luna or Heidi boot, this boot has a leather sole and that harness is removable for two completely different looks. And they are RED, friends. RED.
Fluevog boot; S12, $225
Adrian Family has this to say:
"A thankful person is a happy person" (Hey, that's my blue Fluevog boot in the background!)
I love when we have Sabrina Butterfly in the shop because then I get to say I know her! (Well, I met her once at a playground, and we talked for at least 10 minutes). Can you see the lovely design running up the centre panel of this top? So cute!
Sabrina Butterfly top; Size M, $38
Super-cool Fossil Emi saddle bag:
Fossil purse, $48
There's just something I love about this simple pleated skirt (with elastic waist-band!):
Chelsea and Theodore; Size 8, $26
Great contrasting grey and blue heels....
Gal-Latea shoes; S8.5, $28
...with a playful lace detail and an unexpected square toe!
Just in case you are going away to a tropical destination, here's the tiered linen dress that you'll be wearing every day:
Linen dress (NWT); Size M, $26
Maybe I've been watching too much of The Worst Witch (although, can you ever really have TOO MUCH of The Worst Witch?!), but these shoes just totally look like something Mme Batonsec would wear! There's something a little witch-y about them...
Restricted shoes; S8.5, $28
....and a playful ratan cone heel!
At first I thought this Oak and Fort shirt was a bit boring.....but, friends, it's silk!
Oak+Fort top; Size L, $40
And if you're not going on a tropical vacation, you'll need this Sorel down vest....
Sorel vest; Size S, $42
...and these Merrell boots!
Merrel boots; S10, $110
Special head-up for you, friends: the shop will be open late next Tuesday and there will be a special little sale! If you want to come just leave a comment on Facebook or IG (or email if you have none of these platforms). I'll be there. No pressure.
Speaking of Fluevog-boot adventures, just the other day I was at a conference and we had to do (gulp) an icebreaker. I know. My colleague whispered to me "I became a history professor specifically to avoid this kind of thing!". But wait, it there's more; before starting the icebreaker they asked us to...remove our shoes! Seriously. I immediately started sweating and channeling Carrie Bradshaw: but this is an outfit! And I'm not kidding friends, I NEVER take off my shoes in public. If I'm going somewhere where I know I will have to remove my footwear, I coordinate my socks/hosiery so as to not compromise my outfit. (Because I'm charmingly neurotic?). Plus, ahem, as a person who has had babies, in all honesty if I remove my pre-baby boots, there is a good chance I won't be able to zip them back up again without the aide of metal tools, levers and an engineering degree (amiright?)! In the end, the activity was fun and really, friends, I'm just grateful I chose to NOT wear compression socks that day! Mortifying!
Here's a pic of me at the conference with an awesome giant balloon mermaid! (Look at her hair! Look at the mer-babies!). Isabelle Cliche made this incredible creation, and I know her!
But this is an outfit. (Thems my Bev Fluevog boots that I was able to zip back up!)
