Now, as we've discussed on many occasions, I do NOT need any more boots. And certainly I don't need any more boots that are nearly identical to boots I already own. Or do I.....? (I'm sure that NONE of you can identify with this situation. Hehe). I dug out my winter gear, and, to be honest with you friends, with some of the stuff I was all "You AGAIN?". Time to explore some new winter clothes!
This lovely light-weight, dusty blue jacket looks simple enough, but it has an unexpected detail....
See the zipper on the lapel and up the side of the buttons? At first I thought this was just an edgy, decorative detail....
...but it's functional! I find this actually quite original (and practical on the right occasions), but I have to admit that when zipped up, this coat looks a bit cyclops-y to me (I guess that would be tri-clops-y, if we are inventing vocab? You get the idea). I am not opposed, as I love asymmetry almost as much as I love.... precise symmetry!
I love the bold, almost-granny print on this Kate Spade blouse! There are equally almost-granny details like the bishop sleeves and peplum, but the boxy cut and the size of the print are decidedly not-granny-ish.
Oops, I should have given you a pee warning. Sorry friends! I think some of us remember this version of Camper's beetle boot. I know it's burned into my brain as a jewel in the Camper crown! There's actually alot going on with this boot, but it still has that smooth Camper charm. Those little red buttons are just so stinking cute and unforgettable!
Check out the great brogue detail on the toe-cap (just a bit is the right amount!) and the contrasting leather grains:
And the red top-stitching throughout!
From one of our favourite Canadian west-coast brands, Dace from Vancouver! (Full disclosure, friends: the lining on this one has some wear. You'll have to take it as-is...fully loved!)
For reasons I just can't put my finger on, I really like this knit crop-top from Lululemon. It's simple, but a bit "fancy" since it's knit, and is just the right shape for layering while being flattering.
See? It even has a random fancy knit detail in the raglan on the back. There's just something about it!
Triangles necklace!
Something experimental is happening with this Aritzia sweater here, friends, and I would like us to discuss it. It's purposefully inside out! (Or, in proper knitting terms, it's WS -wrong side- out).
Of course, the inside-out-ness of the sweater is what makes it so interesting! As a knitter who appreciates a technical knit, I am both enchanted by the way the floats are put on display here (floats are the strands of yarn that stretch across the patterned portion of a colour-work sweater), while at the same time I am kind of MORTIFIED because showing floats on the outside of a project is -gulp- just not something one does. I can only look at this through my fingers covering my eyes, yet I can't look away because it is so cool!
Now, if this is the WS-out version of a knit sweater, I know all you other knitters out there are dying to see the RS (right side) knit-work. So here are all the RS pieces on the inside of the sweater, stitched together purposefully to expose the WS. (Although I don't believe this sweater is meant reversible, as all the tags and care instructions are stitched into the seaming).
Another indoor lab-coat coat! I love this look, friends!
There is just the right amount of sweetness to these Italian flats. The croc-embossed patent leather, the beaded bows, the whole look still reads grown-up and effortlessly elegant to me!
When it's larger in the hips and slimmer at the knee, it's a wiggle skirt!
Another sweater to explore! This is a great relaxed shape, but what I love, of course, is the details....
...like the edging throughout and the great embroidery and beading on the sleeves!
Elastic waist, nautical print and a crinoline?! Adorable!!
Haha, friends, as I was reviewing my many *logical* reasons for why I need new Camper boots almost identical to my current boots (I know I'll love them! I'll wear them all the time!), it reminded my hilariously of that moment when you reason with yourself about having another baby (I know I'll love them! I'll wear them all the time!)...and then you end up having two identical things in your home! Haha!
