So many cool things in the shop these days, friends! I almost did an all-shoe blog this week because the shoe section is bananas right now, but we also have so many stunning clothes in! I had to parse it out for the blog, but for the other gems you are going to have to come down yourself and check it out!
How can I deprive you of this amazing, minimalist, wool cocoon coat? This coat totally looks like it's from the Oak+Fort family (and it's also made in Korea, like Oak+Fort), but it's from I-know-nothing-about-it-but-it-sure-is-cool brand Corner Shop.
Friends, these Ugg boots are so cool that I forced my foot to go inside and very briefly pretended that they fit perfectly. Then I had to quickly remove my foot before doing permanent damage to both boot and foot (yes, that is in order of importance)! Someone cool is going to love these!
The inside is, of course, all cozy with sheep-skin! (If you want to show the sheepy inside, or you are just too hot, you can even fold down the top of the boots!)
Always happy to get Hell Bunny in the shop! With its delicate floral-on-slate pattern, this dress is so much more demure than what I am used to seeing from Hell Bunny, but I love its casual elegance! (Get more Hell Bunny dresses down on Whyte Ave at Rowena -another independent, local, woman-owned business!)
1460 Doc Martens in traditional burgundy! Because I am a very old vampire, I get a nostalgic pang in my heart just looking at these!
Something playful from Anthropologie! This one is all about the print!
Penny farthings, tails and bowler hats! And they've made it look simple!
Purse party! The small red one in front is a Stella McCartney (didn't it suddenly get more interesting, friends?!) Falabella cross-body in faux-but-convincing croc. As always with Stella McCartney: it's vegan! Many sustainability points with this one! Then there is the simple Ralph Lauren red cross-body (NWT!). RED, friends. And the J Crew leopard print scarf is wool!
Did you see this on our instagram (@redpony109) this week? You know I love an orange garment, and this one has tiny birds on it! But not any of the standard bird-on-garment birds...
...these ones are flamingos!! Unique, unexpected and adorable!
I love the awkward, not awkward look of Jeffrey Campbell shoes! I may have put these on and walked around the shop pretending to be Jeanne Damas. You are welcome to come do the same!
How to resist an owl necklace?!
Obviously the star of the show on this dress is the folded puritan collar, but check out the other details; the slightly puffed sleeve, the folded stitch detail across the bust, and the general shape of the dress pull this whole look together!
One of Frye's most popular boots: the Veronica short boot! In Frye we trust, these boots will last forever!
Onto one of my favourite segments: the "I Know Her"! From Edmonton's Bridget Smatlan (I know her!) (I mean, she would for sure remember me if I reminded her of who I was) (or she might act like she doesn't know me at all, but she would only be pretending to not know me), we have an adorable Fridget dress! This is a one-piece masquerading as a two-piece:
Down on the left side of the dress is this great bird/scissors print....
...and there is one on the back as well!
So guess what happened to me? Eeeeek!
Friends, changing a flat tire is not something they teach in grad school, nor do I have ANY of the life skills necessary to know what to do in this situation. Surprisingly, no amount of knowledge about the brands carried at Anthropologie, Fluevog shoe names or the properties of merino wool will help to change a tire! Thank goodness for the super nice AMA dude who handled this for me!
And, oooooo, look at me! I'm a French Instagram star prancing around her Paris apartment after signing a book deal!*
*None of those things are true. Except the prancing part.
I'll be in the shop this Saturday, friends, and if these Jeffrey Campbell shoes are still there I am totally getting them! Come by to say hi and have some car talk!
I wrote this at The Woodrack Café, another independent, locally {woman} owned business. When we support independent businesses, we make an immediate positive impact on real human beings in our community!
