Bonne année, friends! Long time no blog! (Harhar) So, let’s talk about clothes!
This blue is everywhere these days. It’s like we’ve all forgotten how awesome blue is, and then blue decided to remind us! This skirt is Club Monaco, and I’m just pointing it out because I have an unexpected soft spot for Club Monaco insofar as I find that their stuff is very well made and really lasts. Of course, all of that is not as interesting as how cute this skirt it! And, why yes, it does have pockets!
But my absolute favourite thing are these detailed scallops across the bottom!
We love these types of saddle shoes, right? Check out that great brogue detailing on the patent leather!
Friends, I am in full romper-conversion mode. Like, maybe we should be phasing out pants and ONLY wear rompers. Who’s with me? (This wide-leg swooshy romper still has its new tags on!)
It’s not just a black top, friends. First, it’s Kate Spade, but secondly…
…check out that spacey, shortened boat neck! It looks like a boat-neck from the future! What a cool design detail, it makes the shirt!
Simple and elegant (and grown up) Vince Camuto purse!
Let this grow on you for a second, friends. At first glance I would pass this one over, and then when I had a good look at it I was all “Oooooooooo, I see!”. I associate these types of fabrics and this colour scheme with blazers, but the gathered waistband and cuffs, plus the lack of a collar, make this more of a “sporty” jacket. I love this type of juxtaposition! This one is from French brand Sessùn who are super eco-fashion conscious.
I love the contrasting fabric!
Dove grey booties:
This week in the mens’ section….who can resist!
Friends, have we discussed how I’m leaning hard into sequins, velvet and leopard print? Why am I only discovering this now? Leopard print is the best! On these shoes I love the print, but I also love me a block heel!
Another of my soft-spot favourite brands is Yumi. Because they produce designs such as a black cardi….with bobbles!
The bobbles run up the cables on the front, plus on the pockets AND on the arms! It’s a bobble party!
And long-time friends will know that I love Gentle Fawn. They are Canadian and produce great stuff, but mostly I love their super-sweet name! Gentle Fawn, awwwww! And the designs are, of course, super cute!
I love the print on this one (very vintage-curtain looking!)……
…..and check out the awesome back!
And now, for a beautiful, very serious grown-up bag for those of you who do very serious grown-up things!
Room for your book, your knitting AND has a removable laptop sleeve:
This sophisticated envelope pouch is attached and hangs on the inside of the bag. Not sure what it’s for, but I would get this bag JUST for this very grown-up pouch!
Friends, I’m very excited about this because I think this is the weirdest/coolest thing we’ve seen for a while! It’s jersey, but with a tab and zip closure on the front (which makes it dressy?). And, yes, it’s pants WITH AN ATTACHED SKIRT. I just can’t even, friends. The whole garment is one unit, so that skirt is not detachable, it really is built into the design. Such a bold and unapologetic design choice! It’s just going there!
I would LOVE to wear this and swoosh around acting like a princess in my sweatpants that are also an amazing skirt. Someone is going to love this, and I want to be there when it happens!
Ooooooooo, look what’s in the backroom! Camper Beetle boots and some awesome blue saddle flats! (And there is LOADS of JCrew back there getting ready to come out!)
Hey, did you see we got our awning put up? It’s like we’re a *real* store now! Now, to be honest with you, friends, I don’t really get excited about awnings the way I get excited about, say, pants with a freaking skirt attached(!!!!), so at first the whole awning thing was just zzzzzzz to me. But then Denise, our awesome graphic designer, told me that when she sent the design to the awning people (zzzzzz, I know) the font did not work when it was blown up to awning-size (yes, yes, zzzzz) so she had to….do it by hand! This is where I wake up, because there is something magical to me about the fact that the awning was partly *hand drawn*!
After the jumbled store holiday hours we are back on track with the usual schedule. I’m in the shop on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and of course all day Saturday so that we can catch up and you can try on the pants-skirt!
