Friends, it’s as if a time machine from outer space -a time and relative dimension in space machine, if you will- landed at Red Pony and filled the shop with clothing from the future! I am dying! If you are reading this, I am dead.
From our friends down the street at Workhall, who also always nail a good outfit-from-the-future: it’s a Workhall coat! This one is, surprisingly, a button down coat, but that covered band is totally camouflaging it. And I LOVE how the pockets set parallel to the button band!
We got a whole bunch of stuff in from Oak+Fort this week, friends, it’s kind of nuts! I love when we get Oak+Fort pants because they always manage to be quirky while still maintaining that minimalist aloofness that we love! Like these ochre/olive (so, brown, I guess?) cropped pants! I love the tilt-your-head-to-the-side “huh” of the colour…..
…..and the big, exaggerated pleats that don’t interfere with the drape or silhouette of the pants.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, friends, I mean, gah, pffftttt: these shoes!! Ok, freak out complete. Friends, these incredible loafers are from Gravity Pope, and I am OBSESSED. And they are just my size (that sound you just heard was the timer turning on; you now have one week to grab these before I snatch them up for myself!). How great would these look under a cropped pant? AND NOW imagine how cool they would look worn with black, opaque tights. Right?
This reverse-dalmation pony hair on the vamp is the best thing I have ever seen. Ever. I might have to print a picture of these to carry around with me in my mom-wallet at all times.
Hackwith is a super ethical brand from the States. They are one of those brands that show a picture of their studio on their website (and profiles each member of their small workforce, including the sewers, which is a very nice touch), which I always love because then I can imagine my alternate life working there! But what is super fascinating, friends, is that they make a limited *25* item run of all their designs, so you know there are only 25 of these shirts in the whole world!
I am so into a dolman sleeve these days, friends. Those large and soft patch pockets, the white buttons down the front and the collarless design choice totally give this top that elegant pyjama type look.
Wait, what? MORE Oak+Fort?? Yes, I was not kidding, friends, there is so much Oak+Fort in the shop right now! OK, now this, THIS, is typical of Oak+Fort: it’s wool and it’s cut like a cocoon coat, but it’s not an actual coat. The weight is more of a heavy-cardigan weight, but it is still something more than just a cardigan. The lapels suggest coat, but there are no fasteners. I mean, I know it’s not pants, and I know I love it, but that’s about as much framing as I can give. Keep being you, Oak+Fort!
Our special treat this week is this Mackage leather jacket! I love the feminine, whimsical details like the big buttons and the nano-puffed sleeves against the stark utilitarianism of black leather.
And hello big, comfy cowl!
Ooooooo, teeny-tiny alert!! A miniature birds’ nest necklace!
Friends, we have a bunch of Preloved in the shop right now, too! They also show a pic of their Toronto studio so that I can imagine work there, and they are approaching sustainability from the angle of designing new garments from reclaimed clothing. Friends, I have seen this dress on a human, and it is not what you think. I was expecting this to fit like a sweater dress, a bit looser and boxy on top, and a bit more snug at the hips. But I was SO WRONG. This dress is actually a body-con, and it is STUNNING. Don’t let its droopy attitude on the hanger fool you.
Of course, the fun of Preloved is imagining how all the puzzle pieces came together. I’m thinking this dress is mostly made up of sweaters.
But then what is this small triangular striped piece on the back? These unique details are why I love Preloved!
Ooooooooo, more teeny-tiny things! I forgot to throw in some clothes pins for perspective, so you’ll just have to trust me that these lotus illustration earrings are super small and super adorable.
Handsome coat from the men’s section!
(Hey, our men’s section is looking a bit skinny these days. If you have men’s stuff that would fit in with the vibe of our shop, book an appointment to consign! People love the men’s section, so help us keep it packed!)
Well, well, well, it’s a Preloved scarf! Of course they make scarves!
This scarf used to be many things, and has many stories to tell.
Ooooo, I see a sleeve tab!
And there’s another one!
This week from the sale section…how can you resist?
Friends, the back room is bursting right now! Rod built all of the racks we use at Red Pony, and I have nagged, made passive-aggressive comments, lied, ignored him, glared, used big exaggerated sighs and then asked him nicely to build another rack….and he did! So we’ll be able to flood the sales floor with the pile-up from the back! Here’s what I peeked back there:
So I think we will have a 10% off [our already great prices] sale the first week of September! I will be in the shop tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday morning loading up the new rack with a bunch of great things, and, as always, I’ll be in on Saturday! Come by and say hi and we can talk about……-I don’t know what because I’m too distracted by that awesome bike shirt which would look great with the Gravity Pope loafers!
