Friends, there are so many of our independent faves in the shop this week, I almost want to say we should pace ourselves, because, you know, I’m all about moderation. Hahahahahaha, sniff, ok.
Anyways, meanwhile in some other store down the avenue…..Workhall is happening, and Workhall is also happening here! Is it weird that when I think of Workhall I actually never think of white?
This one does this cool faux-layering thing. Plus it has its original tags on!
Dace is one of my favourite independent Canadian ghosts and it goes straight to my heart when we get a Dace piece in the store!
I myself have a Dace dress in this brushed cotton fabric; I think it makes the garment more playful and smock-like (which in my head goes in the same category as “lab coat-like”). And I love the easy summer-vacation-in-a-European vibe!
Friennnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddssssss this is so exciting! I just knew these two cowls -a larger grey one, and a smaller black one- were something special as soon as I laid eyes on them! They have that quality handmade essence, but weren’t immediately traceable to me. (You know, like sometimes you can tell a piece is Salgado-Fenwick or Smoking Lily.) Well. Get this. Noujica is comprised of these 2 friends based in Montreal, one of whom is a “printed textile design artist” (best descriptor for silk-screener ever! I’m dying!), and the other friend is…..a glass blower! If they had said “magician”, that is the level of excitement I felt reading about a glass-blower who is a clothing designer!
Because they are awesome, they use repurposed organic fabrics (and natural vegetable dying of their leather goods). And, of course, the prints are done by hand and each garment is unique!
You have to come visit these neck-warmers IRL because they are FABULOUS! And the Noujica S/S19 series is actually FROM THE FUTURE! Local fave Sabrina Butterfly is on their retailer list (yay!), so go swing by her shop if you want to see more from Noujica!
And now it’s time for a Relaxed-Slouchy-Button-Down Party! Starting with another of our favourite ghosts, Noul!
Now I’m looking at you and you’re looking at me, and then your eyes dart around a bit to see if anyone has noticed and we are both thinking “James Perse. I love Red Pony”. Plus, it’s linen!
Ah, Uniqlo is one of my personal favourites. Their designs are so simple that it makes me feel like my whole life is simple! (Briefly tho, hahahaha)
Uniqlo really wants you to know that this shirt won’t wrinkle!
Yes, friends, yes. These are sparkly ruby slippers. But they have been updated…..
……because they are ombré! Red at the toe grades to black at the heel!
My friend Marga inspected these shoes very, very carefully and declared that these are quality sparkles that won’t leave a trail of sparkles all over your house. She is an expert because she has two daughters. Credentials verified, enough said.
Awwwwww, this shirt is just so cute! And the cotton is super soft, like an undershirt.
But obviously it’s too cute to be hidden underneath anything!
More cuteness, but also with a definite minimalist vibe to it! This supper small cross-body is hand-made and vegan! July and Alex of Good Mood Moon (slow clap and enthusiastic head nod for this great name!) donate parts of the profits from each item to animal care organizations!
OK, so this will absolutely NOT hold your mom-wallet, knitting project and 4 re-usable Baggu bags, however it is chique and uber-cool in it’s smallness, and I know you can rock it! Plus, as we are all REAL adults, this one comes with its dustbag!
And more Uniqlo!
Even their micro pleats feel simple!
Well, well, well. A Burberry shirt is hanging out on the men’s section!
This wool coat from Club Monaco is on the 50% off rack! This one buttons up asymmetrically and has a covered button band because, as you know, this is how they wear coats in the future! And, in case you missed it I will repeat again: it’s wool…..and on sale for 50% off!
We made some slow progress this week with whole alarm-pad situation. This is the current state of it: yes, the alarm pad has been moved, but the FIVE holes in the wall aren’t really an aesthetic that I am fond of. I remain hopeful that through the power of nagging this will be fixed shortly!
I’ll be in the shop on Saturday, friends! We can catch up and chat about the lure of the tiny purse, which scrunchie from Bamboo Ballroom is your favourite and the first few episodes of The 100!
