It's all blue shoes and white shirts this week, friends, plus a bunch of fun follow-ups!
You know, J Crew really nailed the semi-faux-wrap skirt. (I'm calling it "semi-faux" because it doesn't wrap -it has a fixed waistband- but it does overlap fully across the front). Myself, I generally have problems with wrap skirts. The wrap portion doesn't stay in place and the skirt will often hang too boxy on me. But this one has a built in a-shape to it that I LOVE (and that always looks flattering on me. Because it's all about me).
Obviously, the pattern is just a delight! Someone who is really into elephants is going to be super happy when they find this skirt! I am not necessarily "into" elephants, but this print and the slightly stiff brocade feel of the material have that vintage-curtain charm that I am so into these days.
We saw these in a bag in the backroom two weeks ago, and now they have arrived on floor!! These Doc Martens are Beck from the Creeper collection. Creepers have a more pointed toe than the traditional Doc Marten forms we are used to; the look is purposefully retro. They remind me of shoes Duckie would wear in Pretty in Pink! Like most of Doc Marten shoes, the Creepers are unisex (these particular one seem huge to me, though, and are marked as a men's 12).
Here's the dress you'll be wearing to all the festivals this summer!
I love this cowl!
Friends, I have a real thing for hammered metals. There is something organic and artfully purposeful about hammered jewlery. And we get the real feeling that each piece of hammered jewlery is truely unique! This beauty is tiny, and the chain is shorter, so it fits like a choker.
Should I start by pointing out that this shirt is silk? Or go straight to the more obviously exciting feature?......
....little cartoon hearts! Weeeeeeeeee, so cute!
And last week we also talked about my love of Canadian brand Gentle Fawn, and, hurray, here we have some more:
These simple Adidas are brand new (which is why the white is SO WHITE!):
Friends, for some reason we have LOADS of Loft 82 flowy white tops in the shop right now! And they are each different, but it was still funny when I went through the shirts and I was all "Ooooo, a Loft 82 shirt! Ooooooo, look another one! Hey, Loft 82 again. Loft 82. Loft 82. Loft 82". Haha! I had a hard time sliming the options down to just these two!
For me, this particular Loft 82 top is all about the small, relaxed collar and key-hole at the neck:
I appreciate that the swoosh of this shirt is built into the design. Just like I can't do wrap skirts, I also have difficulty with swooshy shirts!
Simple blue shoes, that you could also wear to a 1980s American prom!
Actually, maybe this one will be your festival skirt for the summer? Because pockets!
Insofar as I love the name "Gentle Fawn", I also love "Holding Horses"!
Small, relaxed collar and vintage curtain style print! Love it!
I love the hearty, industrial style of this Matt and Nat!
Hey, remember when CBC Radio-Canada came to film for Polyfonik at the shop back in April? Well it's all live on the Internet! (Check it out here!). Such a cool way to introduce emerging artists!
No blog next week, friends, as I have fallen seriously behind in all my podcasts. But I'll be in the shop on Sunday, so you can still come and hang out with me then! If not, meet you back here on Wednesday June 20!
