I'm keeping it classy (mostly!) this week, friends!
I mean, nothing says "I'm a real adult" like a classic Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress!
This dress manages to pull off a heart print, of all things, without being too sweet (it is DVF after all)!
Also quintessentially classy: a silk Chloé top! By virtue of its *very existence* it is cool, but if you look closely the pleating on the front is slightly assymetrical.....
...and the back has assymetrical pleating too! This top is gorgeous on, and that pleating detail makes it look stunning from the side.
And one more thing: I saw it tried on with this shrug. Look how that black bow detail pops when combined with a black shrug. Swoon!
Friends, Showpo used to be called ... "Show Pony"! Ha! What if we changed our name to "Redpo"? No? OK, ANYWAYS, check out this dress; it is just breathtaking. I love, love, LOVE the colour and the fabric (if a peony turned into a dress, it would look like this!!) (And I love peonies!) (And I love dresses!). Just look at how the pleats line up; structured, yet has a fluid element to it . So stunning, elegant and classic!
Hurray, your Paris FW sneakers have arrived. Wear them with your duster, slouchy beanie and $4000 statement clutch to show that you're not actually trying hard, you're just a model on her day off!
If your screen is also just a solar powered calculator like mine, you might not be able to tell that the Sam Edelmans are actually a distressed denim colour. The Steve Maddens are woven leather.
At first I was all "what is going on with this coat?", but then I realized it is purposefully meant to signal over-sized man coat, while being a woman's coat. (The "boyfriend jeans" of coats, if you will). The trompe oeil "wide" shoulders are actually dropped, and there is only one button closure at the waist, so that it maintains the illusion of being over-sized while actually being flattering. I think this will look adorable on, plus it's wool!
Friends, I was convinced that this dress was a vintage piece, but it's actually brand new! I love a convincing, faux-vintage piece! The shape of the dress with that elastic waist, the bishop sleeves and the chevron texture had me totally fooled.
From cutting edge shoe brand Shelly's London, these great tassle boots! I like the tassels (of course!), but my favourite part is the brogue detailing on the side!
From our departed friends, a Loft 82 top:
Make it a fully extinct outfit with the Noul pants too:
Great Cole Haan winter-in-the-city boots:
At Red Pony we are all class:
Not one but TWO Banana Republic dress. The black one has pockets!
For your hint of spring this week: two Wilfred silk dress!
And check out the great back on these ones:
So while I was in the shop a Red Pony friend, Sara Fulmore, came in with a camera. I "accidentally" got in her shot (kidding!) and she said that she was doing a video about consignment shops in Edmonton. How cool is that?! She managed to hit them all in one day!
Although I myself didn't make it into the video (sniff), she does actually say my name (MY name!!!) in the video, which made me feel very special and famous and much cooler than I actually am in real life! Check out her video and all her great finds here:
Did you notice her cool pendant? She got it at funky, independant Halifax consignment store Put Me On. I love all the details, and the onyx eyes and nostrils(!) keep it from being too cowboy-ey and makes it a bit more elegant. Excellent find, Sara!
Did you see this on our Instagram this week? I was at the Woodrack Café, and since I am a super creepy weirdo I asked then-stranger Lauren if I could take a picture of her cool shirt. (You know I love me a vintage Nirvana shirt!).
Turns out it had a great story behind it: she had been long out of touch with a dear a friend, and while working [at a different cafe] she spilled something all over herself, stained her shirt and posted something about it on Facebook. Although they hadn't seen each other in YEARS, out of the blue the old friend came to the coffee shop and gave her this very Nirvana t-shirt to wear instead. Then they were back in touch and even ended up traveling together and are very close to this day! Is there anything a Nirvana t-shirt CAN'T do?!?!
I wrote this at The Woodrack Café, another independent, locally {woman} owned business. When we support independent businesses, we make an immediate positive impact on real human beings in our community!
