Friends, this is it! Summer, as in the strictly orthodox definition of summer ingrained in us from years of school learnin', is finally here! And Canada Day falls conveniently on a Friday too! (We are open Canada Day, btw).
Remember this one from the backroom last week? I love having Matt&Nat in the store! This valise is sized to fit a laptop, but there is no padded sleeve. However it is just the right size to fit the manuscript of your novel that you typed up on a vintage type-writer.
I have very particular feelings about FCUK. My BEST skirt ever comes from FCUK. This one has a lovely slit up the side:
Absolutely fabulous vintage inspired party dress!
Going back my theory about how American Apparel remains cool and current by taking classic basics and making them just a touch awkward, I think this dress counts!
It's not just a plain, strapless body-con dress that a boring, serious adult would wear. It has boob-ruching that looks slightly awkward on both small-bossomed AND larger-chested friends, proving you are simultaneously fashionable and too-cool-to-care.
These Ecco flats have the softest, buttery leather!
Friends, this Anthropologie dress is silk!
So you know how I love tags with a message? This great summer dress has the message....on the outside!
Now, at first I thought this tunic from chez Simons (which is NWT!) should go with leggings, but after trying it on for you I realised it should be worn without leggings while hanging out on your flagstone patio, with your over-size sun-glasses, head scarf and sipping a citrusy beverage.
Classic Lacoste shirt:
Over in the men's section, I found these great shorts and Ugg shoes!
The shorts are from Gramicci, who strive hard for sustainable fashion. Aaaaaannnnnnnddd they have a great tag:
And true to Ugg form, the inside heels of these shoes have a patch of sheep-skin!
This lovely dress is such an elegant classic:
There are flat pockets on the front of this J Crew dress! They are camouflaged well, so I couldn't get a good picture, but trust me, they're there!
The raglan, baseball-shirt style sleeves totally make this dress! It's rayon, not jersey, so it's lighter for summer wearing. And in case you think it is just a touch too casual.....
.....it has an exposed zipper!
Friends, I love this tank!
Wait a minute. I think this guy needs a friend, and I have just the thing:
These flowered Keds look like they just stepped out of Kimmy Schmidt's/Original DJ Tanner's/Taylor Swift's closet!
Orange is one of my favourite colours for clothing, because you don't see it very often. The pairing of beige and orange on this Vera Moda blouse is so unique and elegant! The tie, botton-band and cuffs.....
...and it has a peek-a-boo back panel with a flash of orange!
The colour of this amazing vintage dress is pink-gold, made of a quilted, but not bulky, material. The original buttons on the left side of the top of the dress are functional, as this dress is a faux wrap. This one is all class, friends!
So even before looking it up, my highly trained eye told me this was a vintage dress. But this time I can even date this dress to the 1960's based on the tag and resources from the Vintage Fashion Guild:
OK friends, this silk MILLY tank is NWT and was originally selling at a fairly optimistic price. Bearing in mind that it's silk, from a designer who interned at Dior (nbd), how much would you say this was originally selling for?
We're open 12-5 on Canada Day. You should come by! Plus it's also our birthday!
To celebrate the beginning of summer holidays (and for surviving the soccer season!!!), I invited my friends to Red Pony after-hours for some well-deserved snacks and kid-free shopping.
We tried on a bunch that we've seen on past blog posts:
Une super belle soirée, merci les amies!
