The Pony is just bursting with great things lately, friends! Like this pineapple dress:
Zara dress; Size S, $30
A dress with PINEAPPLES on it!
Great criss-cross straps in the back....
Back detail. More pineapples!
I've been racking my brain to make absolutely sure that the following bold statement is true (and it is!): Hilary Druxman is my all-time favourite Canadian jewellery designer. I've been a fan for ages and have many of her pieces, which is why I'm sure that this necklace is a Hilary Druxman:
Hilary Druxman necklace, $18; Lola top, Size S, $16
If pineapples on your dress is not your thing, perhaps poodles on your dress is more your style! The tag on this dress is not readable (it's just colours), but I recognise the label as one carried at our friends at The Groove Stone, which means it's Canadian!
Poodle dress; Size M, $30
A dress with POODLES on it!
Finding things in the shop from our beloved Nokomis is like getting a surprise visit from a dear old friend....
Nokomis dress; Size 12, $42
I was also super excited to find this Fridget jacket by local Edmonton designer and maker Bridget Smatlan. (Can I be a geek for a second to tell you that I KNOW HER!! She almost always recognises me when we run into each other, and once I remind her of my name she'll say "Oh, yeah"...are we best friends or what?!). You can get Fridget Apparel at the Edmonton Downtown Farmer's Market and maker events like The Royal Bison Art and Craft Fair.
Fridget jacket; Size S, $32
Fridget shoulder detail
Adorable!
Hey, you could wear your Fridget vest over this lovely floral dress!
New York & Co dress; Size M, $32
Look at this awesome rockabilly dress from our friends at Rowena on Whyte! Don't let the brand name "Trashy Diva" fool you, this dress is totally lovely!
Trashy Diva dress; Size 10, $38
Back at the old Pony (when we were on Whyte Ave) for a while we would have a monthly pop-up store featuring local designers/makers like Fridget (did I mention that I KNOW HER!) and Cinder+Smoke. (I do not really know Cinder+Smoke designer Janna Stewart, but if YOU know her be sure to tell her that I know Bridget! Just kidding, tell her that I want to meet her so I can make a big deal about knowing her too!) It's always nice to find Cinder+Smoke on our racks.
Cinder+Smoke skirt; Size M, $30
This one even has top-loading pockets!
Handy pocket!
This vintage-cut dress can take you anywhere! The material is the type that you can roll it in a ball at the bottom of your carry-on and it will come out perfect on landing!
Shelby & Palmer dress (NWT); Size 6, $36
And, hello, what's this? An exposed zipper!
Back detail
In case there was any doubt!
More Edmonton-designer loving with this classy Nicole Campre number:
Nicole Campre top; Size M, $26; Necklace, $14.
Look at the subtly feminine back:
Back detail, so elegant!
I'm not typically a fan of kerchief dresses, but this one has great hang without being "triangley" (you know what I mean)!
Roxy dress; Size XS, $26
Kerchief in all its glory!
Why have a plain white tank when you can have a white tank with constellations!
EckoFunctional tank; Size S, $16
There is almost as much material in the tag as there is on the top! But you know I love a good tag!
This tag has alot to say!
Friends, jump suits look ridiculous on a hanger, so use your imagination here because they look great when worn!
Hot and Delicious jumpsuit; Size M, $22
Lovely blue top:
Coupe top; Size M, $18
Great top detail
I might be losing my mind, friends. I think we've seen this top before. Is it just me? If I'm repeating something, sorry!
Sweet Rain top; Size M, $16
Look, stars!
Where have I seen you before?!
And you can imagine how excited I was when I noticed that the tag on that green Shelby&Palmer dress identified the colour as "Black Mermaid"...
"Black Mermaid" is the best colour name ever!
But I was wrong.
Read better, Yannick.
