Look what we have! It's a Fridget dress from local maker and Red Pony fave Bridget Smatlan (I know her!)!
Check out the cool wheat print at the collar (note the wee buttons!)....
...and matching print on the back!
I almost passed these by, but something drew me to them. Oh yeah, they're Campers!!
(I tried these on for you, and if they are still here next week then they are MINE!)
Remember last week when I decided that if you squint hard enough and completely suspend your disbelief then we can all agree that Diane von Fürstenberg is my aunt? Well this gorgeous dress from Tante DVF is silk!
You can totally get away with wearing this skirt without seeming too sweet....because it's leather!
I love the contrast of the delicate embroidered vines and flowers on the rich black leather. Stunning!
Oh how we do love our chunky knits!
Does this coat totally remind you of FW Pinterest boards that are filled with pins of models on their day off casually wearing their duster over their boxy white t-shirt, ripped jeans, white sneakers and their Céline bags (I want one so badly!!)? This beauty from long-standing Canadian fashion institution Holt Renfrew is cashmere and angora! It is so unexpectedly soft and light! (Also I went down the rabbit hole and read through all of Holt's ethics and sustainability mandates, which were surprisingly comprehensive and transparent...good to know!)
The perfect clutch for the holiday season:
This Topshop jumpsuit is so unapaologetic. It's like, "Hi, I'm a jumpsuit....and I'm fuchsia"!
The great gold flats that we peeked in the back room last week:
This baby-pink blazer is also safe from being too sweet....it's leather too!
This not-a-pyjama-top top from Oak+Fort:
Can you see the camoflaged pocket?
Here's my favourite label for this week:
Nümph is a Danish brand (or as they like to put it, "A successful Danish fashion company"). Look at that beaded collar!
These awesome maroon boots are from Spanish family brand Coolway. (I get a feminist demerit for thinking that third-gen shoemakers meant that the grand-sons were now in the company...it's actually a bunch of women with funky glasses!). I tried these on for you too (they fit large for a 6.5), and if those tall Camper boots are gone by next week then these ones will be my consolation prize!
This sweater is hand-knit in Canada!
I love the mismatched buttons.....
...my favourite is the hilarious "cheerio" button (fourth one down)!
If you felt that the Banana Republic clutch did not reflect your personality, then maybe this furry bag is be more your style!
Do you need one of these?
And did you guys see that this happened?
Do I feel sorry for the questionably unethical, mega fashion retailor American Apparel? No. But I do feel sad for the community; Whyte Avenue does not need another empty bay or "for lease" sign. And one more depressing thing (sorry!) I just found out that another beloved Whyte Ave indie store will be closing (can't tell you which one yet, because they haven't formally announced...but this one is going to hurt, friends). So please shop your local and independent stores when you can!
