Friends, I just want to fashion-excitement-vomit all the super cool stuff in the shop on you. If that made no sense, I'm sure you'll understand in 3, 2.....Nokomis!
I was so excited when I came across this dress (obviously!!)! Nokomis -the shop and the brand!- will always have a special place in my heart. Remember last spring when they came back as Vera Véro and how awesome that was and now WE ALL WISH THEY WOULD DO IT AGAIN?! It's been 7 years since Nokomis closed its doors (sniff), and this dress stands the test of time!
Always happy to see this tag!
Ok, rompers look sad-trombone when hanging on a hanger, but I'm sure some of you keen-eyed fashionistas recognize the quintessential Sunday Romper from Smash+Tess! With the magical power of, um, magic, this romper is flattering on everyone. There is only one way in and one way out of this fella. My [very cool] friend Danielle has one of these and she says it's the most comfortable thing ever. That's right, friends, EVER.
Uggs gonna Uggs, but the coolest thing about these boots is.....
....the awesome lacing on the back!! I love this! It's so unexpected and gives a certain feminine elegance to the usual utilitarian boot we are used to from Uggs. It simultaneously reminds me of corsets and ballet shoes!
Hey, speaking of how awesome Nokomois was, do you remember when it was the only place in the city that you could get Smoking Lily? I feel so lucky when it comes through Red Pony!
Lovingly hand-made on site in Victoria and Vancouver, their prints are always surprising and delightful. Remember that Smoking Lily periodic table dress from a few months ago? This top is also kinda science-y: Edison bulbs!
This teeny-tiny, rose gold seagull necklace is so beautiful! The chain is short (think choker length); the whole look is deliciously delicate and playful!
The shop is busting with Aritzia these days! The pink-gold necklace would look so good with this simple silk Wilfred dress!
Top marks for creative thinking and flattering line-placement on this one!
I kept coming back to this adorable mint-green J Crew purse...which is bad because, as you know, I am on a purse diet. I will admit to you, friends, that I even went as far as to try to fit my huge mom-wallet into it. Luckily, it did not fit and I very slowly backed away from this mesmerizingly simple temptation.
(Side note: check out this post from Brittany Bathgate's IG; she is wearing a Jeanne Beker type dress as a top on black pants. She's just so cool!)
You may not be able to tell as you are probably distracted by the awesome horse print, but this top is sheer, and peplummed across the front:
But, by all means, let's admire the horse print!
As always, who's our very favourite deconstructionist? Oak+Fort! This water-paint "stained" top is such a genius idea!
A bit more substantive with the thicker rubber sole, these Toms are vegan!
Couldn't not mention this easy Oak+Fort jersey dress....
...and this silk tank!
A few housekeeping items, friends: Red Pony is CLOSED this Friday and Sunday (I know! I'll miss you too!), and there will be no blog next week. In an effort to abate my FOMO, I scouted out the back-room so that I could at least get an idea of what is about to come out...
...like a WATERMELON CARDI! NBD, whatever.
A Milky Way infinity scarf (I think?)...
....and some sort of a bike top!
