Friends, I just spent a large part of the morning unintentionally scrolling through Celine Dion’s Instagram, and you know what? She is a delight! She is clearly just being herself and enthusiastically enjoying her style, and I love that! Anyways, on that in random note, let’s look at clothes!
We had this Anthropologie coat on the Red Pony Instagram last week, but it is so fabulous it deserves a closer look!
Friends, you know that I love orange garments, and this one also has contrasting patterns (which I also love!). Doesn’t this totally look like a painted pattern? And, is it just me, or does this look like it could be a Desigual coat?
And look how lovely the back is! You can see the construction a bit better from the back, especially how the contrast pattern runs down the inside of that arms. That’s some mindful designing!
Oak+Fort has a dry sense of humour, friends, and this is maybe part of why we love them. For example, they’ve labeled this jumpsuit as *one-size-fits-all*. Hahahahahahahahahaha, oh Oak+Fort, you crack me up! I’ve seen this one several humans of different sizes, and it has fit none of them so far. The top portion is quite small, and does not have much give. The lower part is flowey with an extra layer of pleats hidden on the inside of the leg. On a taller person, this detail looks like gorgeous skirting! On a shorter person, the top is so flattering, but the extra-wide legs are too much. But, as with many Oak+Fort designs, I’m pretty sure it is magic and when the just the right person tries it on it is going to be awesome! Hey, you might be that person!
Friends, I’m so fascinated by this bucket bag because it is so pared down and simple! It gives me the same feels as that Baggu bag we had a few weeks ago; it has a simple shape, all leather, no added bells or whistles! There is one small interior slot pocket and that’s it! And it has enough room for your mom wallet and one OR MORE knitting projects!
The base is a perfectly symmetrical circle! For some reason I can feel neurons firing my head as I look at this; like, the shapes are so simple, I can just feel what it would have been like to design this thing from the bottom up!
And it is constructed with simple, quality materials: pebbled side of the leather on the interior, and the suede side on the exterior. This bag is going to age well, and because it is such a different yet simplistic design, it won’t go out of style (like some of Coach’s handbag styles. Ahem).
Kate Spade pants!!
Although these are denim, they are cut like trousers. Check out the back pockets:
Weeeeeeeeeee, friends, this dress is silk! And this unapologetic Hawaiian print is just perfect for it!
We are going to have a BIG talk about this purse, friends, so settle in!
Many/all of us have breezed past this purse without really taking a second look, and here is why I think we haven’t given it much thought: the strap currently on the purse is a woven, tri-colour, preppy tennis club type strap, and it is blinding us to how cool this purse it! This purse is BRAND NEW, and inside it is the alternate strap: a smaller leather strap the same colour as the purse. Now, just imagine this purse with the tan strap on instead of the tri-colour strap…..it’s a whole different purse! Suddenly it’s an edgy minimalist purse!! (Sorry, no pics with the tan strap because to change the straps there is this little grommet thing that (a) scares me and (b) I think it would compromise the “brand new” status of the purse and (c) I am too lazy to figure out how it works!)
The purse itself has three compartments that look small on the outside, but actually hold quite a bit of stuff. I have a Liebeskind purse almost exactly like this one, and it fit’s my mom wallet and a small knitting project!
And, although I am not a fan of that woven strap because of [what I perceive as] its un-ironic preppiness, I DO like these tri-colour tassels hanging off the side. They are also completely removable if that is not your thing, though.
From our friends down the street at Workhall! I’m calling this one a “dress”, but it might also be a long tunic, or maybe it is both because that is how Workhall rolls! I love collars (hmmmm, maybe we have never discussed this?), so that is my favourite detail on this one.
Friends, I may be late to the oxford game, but I am sooooooooo into it! I love the look, especially on softies ones like these.
The dove grey and cream look amazing and feminine; if these were my size I would wear them everything!
Given that I like mostly lab-coat type blazer things, I am as shocked as you by how much I like this one!
Upon closer inspection -although it might be hard to see with all the purposefully blurry bamboo shoots camo- this one does have lab-coatesque patch pockets on the front!
The Queen of flying under the radar is, of course, Uniqlo! This pseudo-body-con dress has pockets!
I’ll only winter you for one quick second, friends, because I couldn’t NOT share with you these super stylish boots which, it turns out, are North Face boots!
Actual sensible winter boots!
I love this shirt from the men’s section!
There is something about this particular palette of colours that feels deliciously retro to me.
And I love me a contrasting cuff!
I know you love this one, and now it’s on sale for 50% off!
Weeeeeeeee, the back room is packed, friends! Here’s a peek…..

Hawaiian shirt!
And the worst thing ever has happened! The Empress Bakery unexpectedly had to close for A WHOLE MONTH!!
I’ve said it before, but it bares mentioning again: their stuff is soooooooo good! I am not a fried dough kind of person (hahahaha, ok, but seriously), but their doughnuts (especially cinnamon sugar) and bismarcks (doughnuts filled with jam) are amazing, and their prices are so reasonable you’ll wonder if you heard right. Anyways, it’ll be rough month for me, but I’m sure I’ll make up for it when they open again in July!
This week was our first open Monday! Now there are even MORE days for you to come visit us! I’ll be in on Saturday as always, but without sugar and fried dough in me, which might mean I am a bit less intense than usual (or more intense? I guess we’ll see)!
