So many fun spring dresses in the shop these days, friends, just waiting for thier chance to fulfill their spring clothes destiny....and I am REEEEEAALLLLY ready to have that happen!
Like, this dress is ready to go out into the world! I love that the top of this dress is gathered in a bow across the bust. It brings a sense of structure to this otherwise easy piece.
However, the star of the show here is, of course, the apple print!!
From Burberry Brit -Burberry's more "casual" line. This men's shirt is purposely distressed and wrinkled so that everyone understands that it's casual, ok? CASUAL. (But keep being you, Burberry, you don't have to prove anything!)
The canary yellow of this Joseph Ribkoff top is so stunning, and although the architectural folds and formed drapiness give it lots of dimension, there is also a certain simplicity here. And if you come in to see it for real, you'll see that they made this mistake-proof! The folds and tie position are built into the garment, so you can't go wrong!
We caught sight of this one in the backroom last week! Friends, I have been side-eyeballing this purse, and avoiding it, because I fear that if I look directly at it I will have to have it! And in case you forgot (how could you forget? I think about it EVERY DAY!), I am not allowed to buy any more purses. It's for my own good. *Sigh*
And we spotted this one in the backroom last week too! I love that this has a classic collar, which is just enough to signal to us that it's playful, but not actually from Anthropologie's kids section!
The popcicles have bites taken out of them! So cute!
Ok, so I have TWO different tops in this print from J Crew; I can't get enough! I love the uncommon green and how bold the flowers are. It has a vintage-curtain look to it that I find irresistable! And in the case of this dress, the whole thing is silk!
I love this elegant tulip back!
Ok, these we saw on the Red Pony Instagram (@redpony109), but they are really worth a closer look, friends. Now, when Rod saw these pictures he referred to these killer shoes as looking "prehistoric". Um, what? (Sheesh, musicians, amiright?) Apparently they look like they were inspired by dinosaurs. (Seriously, this was how he explained it). Ok, so that's one way of describing them. I feel that, if anything, they have more of a medieval feel with the ruffles....
....and a sort of goth whimsey with the dark-unicorn heels. All in all, though, these are a work of art!
Now, to me, this slouchy sweater is a fancy sweat-shirt with words on it. But to others, maybe it has something to do with sororities? I have no idea what Amsterdam-based Maison-Scotch was looking to do here, but I do have a hilarious story to share that has nothing to do with this top! Back when I had a real job (har-har), I was on a work trip with two colleagues. These two colleagues discovered that they had each been in a sorority/fraternity when they had been students, and they were enjoying swapping stories. I myself had nothing to add to this conversation. Being polite and inclusive colleagues, one of them turned to me and said "So, Yannick, are you Greek?". I was surprised by what I perceived to be an abrupt change of subject, but I get questions about where I'm from all the time (and I love talking about myself!), so I answered earnestly "No, I'm from Belgium". This was followed by a deafening and awkward silence, as my colleagues' eyes darted around and they started shuffling their feet. Apparently in this context "being Greek" is a way of affirming your membership in the sorority/fraternity system, and I was just completely clueless!
Anyways, on the back of this top is something else that makes no sense to me, but surely has a very specifc meaning:
There is way more than meets the eye here, friends! This purse is hitting all my purse-love sweet spots: it can stand on its own...
....and has little feet! (These ones still have their feet protectors on, as this bag is still brand new!).
But the most mind boggling thing to me is the charger inside the bag! Is this a thing now?!? And how does it work??
Because sooner or later it HAS to be spring, right?
Oooo, I wish this one fit me, friends! I love the edgey moto feel and the retro acid-wash. You could do so much with this jacket!
Unexpectedly, the boot selection in the shop right now is bang on! It kind of creeps up on you, and suddenly your all "Wait a minute, these boots are AWESOME!". I love the crinkled leather and the touch of femininity with the surprise spool heel!
We had this fun visitor in the shop on the weekend!
You may think the adorable puppy was the gold start visitor last weekend, but the *real* gold star goes to someone who came in to do some shopping....before going to do her fitness challenge for admission into the RCMP! That's so AWESOME! More women in the RCMP, please!
And, for real, friends, I love this J Crew print and hope we get more of it in the shop so that eventually every garment in my wardrobe is in this print!
I'll be in the shop this weekend again on Saturday AND Sunday. I think I might actually wear that green top this weekend, and then when you come in and try on the green dress we can take a picture together, because I am that type of geek!
