The turn-over in the shop has been BANANAS lately, friends, and then I see what's waiting in the back and get even more excited about what's to come!
Always a pleasure to find Cinder+Smoke in the shop! Made locally by Janna Stewart, who you can also find on Saturdays at the downtown market!
At first glace this Lululemon jacket looked to me as if it had jumped out of the Matt & Nat cork series, (which would actually be pretty cool!). However, on closer inspection....
...the print is actually some sort of photo-realistic sequin print! So cool!!
Friends, I have so much to say about this pendant! First off: moose! Cats and foxes may be the new birds and ponies of prints, but I am still holding out for moose (although I do love the cats and foxes!). Secondly, it's a post-marked stamp, so it must be one-of-a-kind. Lastly: on the back of this pendant is a tiny, hand written label that reads "Netherlands c. 1964". It's overflowing with awesome!
How stunning is this brocade dress?! I love the cut, the colour combo is so elegant, and the buttons on the straps are a nice, playful touch!
Beautiful dragonfly broach!
Tee-shirt party, friends! This one is so hilarious! I can't get enough of it and might need to make it my lock screen!
Sweet, organic tee from Denmark:
Locally made, and rapidly becoming one of my faves, is Whiteout Workshop! You can catch a glimpse of this print in the little video on the Whiteout Workshop site. Find more or Natasha's work at the Strathcona Farmer's Market on Saturdays, or at the Calgary Folk Fest next weekend!
To be honest, friends, I sometimes find Coach purses a little a dull. But this one with the pop of pink is just so pretty!
Great Vero Moda dress:
These earrings read as vintage to me:
The bishop-sleeves and a-line cut give this dress a great mod vibe, but I must admit that there is a bit of a Rorschach effect happening for me...and I see a pug!
Simple key necklace:
OK, we all agree that jumpsuits look great on, but look unattractive on hangers, right? So use your imagination, because I think this one with the faux jacket is super interesting and different from any other thing we've seen in jumpsuits:
Showing us how quality ages well, this vintage Matt & Nat:
Seriously, friends. The back room. Bananas.
A cat print:
This awesome looking dress with criss-cross back:
Orange, yellow and blue strawberries(?):
Lovely canary-yellow dress:
Last Sunday while I was in the shop, three (THREE!) people told me they read the blog, none of whom were my relatives or former co-workers that I guilt trip into reading!! It made my day and I was super happy to have conversations about fashion, the role of independent stores in Edmonton and the importance of equal access to clothing across gender identities. I'll be at Red Pony Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend (I've already gone to Bulk Barn to stock up on 3 days worth of snacks!), so come by to say hi and hang out!
PS I've been assured the AC will finally be fixed...it's been a rough few weeks, friends, thanks for *literally* sweating it out with us!
