OK friends, if you are reading this at work, I suggest you stop reading now because you are going to pee your pants when you see what we have in from Smoking Lily, and then things will get awkward with your coworkers.
First, how stunning is this skirt? I actually gasped when I saw this on the mannequin. The skirt is from local designer Trisha Pasnak, and she totally nailed the geometry and silhouette here! The chique top from French-from-France Tara Jarmon is also secretly Canadian!
Did you do some pelvic floor exercises in anticipation of potential pant-peeing? (Note: pelvic floor health is an important issue in women's health! It's one of the main reasons older women have to leave their homes and be prematurely put into care. So I'm kidding, but not kidding). Here's what I am so excited about: Smoking Lily's classic, everlasting Cape of Good Hope!! (Friends, the Cape of Good Hope was the last thing I bought from Nokomis before they closed their shop, so it holds an extra special place in heart. Mine is brown with a moose on it!).
The wool exterior sports a simple Smoking Lily silk-screen:
Friends, there are many ways to wear The Cape of Good Hope. Wear it front wards, or with the print in the back (I saw my friend Tash wear it like this for a wedding once), and I also once saw a woman at a party wearing it as a skirt! It's a genius item!
We have so many Campers in the shop, it's as if a family of them have come to nest at Red Pony right now!
Meanwhile, in the men's section I found this super cool shirt! It's not just a flat silk-screen, it's actually puff print with a velvet finish. I love it and wish I knew more about it!
I have always been curious about seat-belt bags, and now we have one in the shop to explore! This one is a Harveys bag. In case my descriptor of "sea-belt bag" was unclear, it's a bag...made out of seat-belts!
This one happens to be a backpack! I had no idea they even made these in backpack form!
Not only that does it have a bonus top handle (a must for all bags!), but this bag meets my gold-star criteria for bags: little feet on the bottom!
I can't get enough of the fascinating seat-belt details:
I mean, come on, how perfect is this camel coat?!
Hey, here's the leather version of the nubuck Camper boot above. I am pleasantly surprised at the simplicity of style here, which is different from what we are used to from Camper.
The polka dots alone on this J Crew top would have made it adorable, but how fun is it when it's polka dots and sequins?!
Simple and elegant envelope purses....more polka dots! More J Crew!
The bag on the left is two-tone sparkles:
The signature lacing design and the cone heel on these boots are the distinctive details that we know and love on Campers:
I feel like this top could be a repurposed top....
....the seaming and back button detail are so cool!
You are totally cool enough to rock these Vans (Pony friend Christine came in wearing something like these, and she looked SO COOL!)!
Washed out denim tunic from Aritzia:
Friends, this purse is made from re-purposed rubber tires! And not just old factory rubber (which would still be pretty cool), but actual road-weathered tires! Plus, Ganesh Himal Trading has a real personal approach to it's partnerships and goals of helping people in Nepal.
I couldn't leave out this dress from Edmonton's own Fridget:
Friends, don't be mad! I didn't realize that all the things I found this week were smalls. Sorry! I will strive pay more attention and do better!
Here's Pony friend Sara modeling some of the many ways to wear the Cape of Good Hope:
