Friends, it has been a while since I have freaked out, I mean FREAKED OUT HEAD EXPLODING EMOJI about what’s in the shop, but I am actually going to have to scrape my brains off our lovely tile floor from the brain explosion this week. Stellar special treats, fave consignors, and crazy stuff that I wish I had invented! I think I may have busted the band on my control-top tights.
I generally love a good moto jacket like this one, but you know what I else I love?
Beautiful jacket linings! And this one is surprising and makes me want to wear it inside out!
The awesome galaxy print follows all the way into the hood, so I think that if you are the type of person who prefers to wear their jacket right-side out, this awesome print is going to peak out nicely, so you’ll still get lots of compliments!
Our first special treat this week: A DVF!
From the WHAT THE HECK AM I EVEN LOOKING AT THAT IS SO COOL file, these suede shoes at first seem fairly tame with a certain mid-century feeling of strict-practicality over vanity.
These are high heels. Except…not with a heel! HOLY CRAP FRIENDS! ARE YOU SEEING WHAT I’M SEEING?!
They are BUNNIES!!!!!!!! And not even regular bunnies, they are adorable pink bunnies. I mean. What the. It’s just. I can’t.
Adorable vintage-y dress….
…with spaceships print! This dress says “Your love lets me orbit the moon twice and return safely”, amirite?
At first I just loved the timeless shape of this dress, and the staunch pragmatic vibes that it gives off (it’s brown wool!). It turns out Bodybag (great name!) is a Canadian brand from Montréal, and they pay particular attention to the fabrics they use to bring their designs to life! So the strict, “scrub that caldron and don’t mess with me” feel I get (and love!) from this dress is no accident!
From one of our favourite local makers: Cinder and Smoke! (Gasp! Friends, when I went to share Janna’s Cinder and Smoke link, I couldn’t get her website! I’m not finding anything current at all! I even called Arturo Denim to ask them, but, probably sensing my desperate stalker vibes, they were unavailable to answer. Am I losing my stalking skills, or is she taking a break?! If you know anything let me know!)
Would you believe I secretly really love L.A.M.B? It’s so secret that even *I* forget how much I like it! This purse seemed busy to me and at first glance could not hold any knitting project, but it very quickly grew on me and the more I’m around it, the more I love it!
The inside is not as small as it looks! Probably won’t carry a knitting project, but CAN fit your mom-wallet, keys and cellphone!
And here’s the back:
Another of our local faves, Oak and Fort!
Nice, laser-cut unfinished edge. Oak and Fort gonna Oak and Fort!
These may look awkward on the hanger, but I know you can rock a high-waisted, stone-washed, frayed-hem cropped pant!
From Uniqlo!
Great flats with silver beads!
I love how huge and unapologetic these beads are!
Need another special treat? Like a Tory Burch special treat?!
I’m loving the Canadian discoveries this week, friends! This silk-screened tee is made in Hamilton by Blackbird Studios, whose motto is “Made for a girl with a past….and a woman with a history”!
Bird scarf!
This week’s mens section find is a Lululemon top!
Plus this Lululemon top on for 50% off in the sales section. How is this still here? You do see the cacti, don’t you?
I’ll tell you, friends, when I saw that spaceship dress I immediately had a feeling that it could be from one of my favourite consignors who brings in loads of rockabilly dresses, so I raced to the back room and sure enough, there is a full bin of her stuff!!
Including a freaking TARDIS dress!!! Friends, I am going away for a few days, so you are going to have to come to the shop to keep watch as her stuff hits the floor and then report back to me!
So, you know how sometimes when you buy things I tell you that a couple of your items are from the same consignor? I find it fascinating, because it means you have the same taste/colouring/size as someone else and reached for the same items! I, myself, have certain consignors whose stuff always works on me that I love, and this week one of those consignors came into the shop….while I was wearing one of her dresses!!!!! I was actually so excited to meet her in person that I proceeded to embarrass myself by forcing her look at all the OOTD pics in my phone of me wearing a bunch of her clothes, AND THEN I made her take a picture with me!
Sensing [possibly too late] that I might be getting a little intense, I tried to dial down the crazy and with a steady voice -a creepy lower-octave than my usual voice as I over-compensated- I assured her that I am really very normal and down to earth….but I think we both knew that I AM NOT. Hahahaha. OK, but really, wouldn’t you love to meet the person whose style you love?!
So, if you have been paying attention, I am going out of town for a knitting holiday (yarn stores, donut shops and binge watching Orphan Black: we are going to PARTY!), which means no blog next week (sorry!). Red Pony will have slightly modified hours this Thursday (12-7) and Saturday (11-5), then it’s back to usual. While I am away, you have to come to the shop to check out the rockabilly dresses from that spaceship-dress consignor (I met her once, too! She was just like I imagined her, and if I meet her again I will totally force her to take a pic with me!), and let me know how that TARDIS dress works out!
