Hurray! Another Nokomis! This wool colour block dress looks familiar to me; I’m pretty sure we’ve seen one like this before. But I could never NOT mention Nokomis! I was so excited when I saw it!
I don’t know what’s up with this dress, friends; it has a hidden zipper that goes up the front. For a second I thought I had put the dress on the mannequin backwards! But that ruffled front (which buttons up, btw….it’s not even the zippered part!) definitely belongs on the bust, and, in another burst of handy over-design, the ruffles can be buttoned all the way to the top or worn open in a v-neck.
Friends, I almost didn’t put this on the blog, and you know why? Because I wants it! I try to never scoop things up from under you, because we have a very special relationship, do we not? So, here it is: a J Crew art-smock denim jacket. It looked great on me, so I am sure that you can rock it too. (And I will get over it….there are lots of clothes in the world!)
Looking back at my notes (written in two different inks from dying pens on the back of gas station receipts and crumpled up into a mitten) most of the times that we have Nokomis in the shop, we also have Smoking Lily! And here we go again! Now, do you remember the grey Smoking Lily periodic table dress we saw last winter? Here’s its cousin, the scarf!
Because you never know when you might need to identify an element!
There are so many little touches here: the asymmetrical buttons, the draping cowl, the houndstooth print. They all come together so elegantly and effortlessly with this coat.
And another of our Canadian faves, Soia & Kyo! This jacket is understated for Soia & Kyo, but I’m thinking that seaming and the chunky belt come alive when this one is on a human.
And, of course, the Soia & Kyo lining never disappoints!
Great Fossil bag:
Love the Fossil key-hole!
Designed and lovingly handmade in Edmonton, a Suka skirt!
Weeeeeeee! I love this penguin!!! Plus, this sweater is wool, and Spanish brand Compania Fantastica have a great ethical approach to their manufacturing and an unapologetic love of unicorns (I did not make that up)!
Edgy purse:
So actually it’s a wallet with a chain that magically transforms it into a purse!
OK, really, it is ALL our favourite Canadian heavy-hitters this week! Preloved, oh Preloved! Interestingly, they added a hidden button on the inside of this coat so that you can close it of you don’t feel like wearing it flowey.
And from right here in Edmonton (kinda), Bauxo! I love Bauxo, and we don’t often get it in the shop, so this is extra cool!
Although I love complex designs with details, miniatures and secret pockets, there is something really soothing about the simplicity of this wallet:
I couldn’t resist sharing this gorgeous silk Eileen Fisher kaftan!!
What was peaking out at me in the back room? A Fluevog!
And over at our new store on 99st and 82 ave -where we are moving on Oct 1 (!!!)- the current look of our fitting rooms is “jail cell chique”!
Haha! I promise the new shop is going to be super cute, just wait!
I’ll be in the shop this weekend, friends, if you want to come in for a chat!
