Friends, while I was away for just a few days, it's like the shop completely filled up with new stuff!
There is so much Oak+Fort/Noul/Loft 82 that I could probably do a whole blog just about those pieces - but I won't! There are also so many other great things in the shop that need to be spot-lighted, so I'll just sprinkle in the Oak+Fort with the others.....
Swoon. Friends, I love the elegant drape of this top. I'm seeing it as a shirt, but that could also be worn open and overtop of something else. It's doing that very cool lab-coat-chique thing that I like!
Just to get an idea of the structure of this one; it's batwing, but has a seamed shoulder:
There are many things going on with this dress, friends. It's navy (which, BTW, is my new favourite colour), but it's also hghi-low and faux-wrap! Can't you just imagine wearing this and it billowing all around you while you walk?
But, of course, it's all about the elegant bird print, which could also be a curtain print (which I looooooooooove)!
These shoes are so special, friends, but I know you are cool enough to pull them off! I mean, bird prints say one thing, but a sparkly blue heel and a TENTACLE print are a whole other type of statement!
And check out the octopodes (trust me, I looked it up) on the faux-button tops! The straps here are fastened with velcro, which is clever because we don't want to be fiddling around with buttons when we are perched up on platforms, amiright?!
Let's just book-end all that excitement with another bird-print dress:
Awwww, these cartoonish birds are so cute and friendly!
Is it me, or have we seen these types of Miz Mooz flats in the shop before? (Found it!) Either way, for some reason green shoes tend to fly out of the shop, which I totally get; these are so sweet and irresistible!
Eileen Fisher alert! We are having a very grown-up moment with this black blazer. We can always count on Eileen Fisher to have just a little something special, and on this one it's the minimalist collarless lapel (so feminine!)....
....and the tectured fabric!
And while we are being classy and grown-up, how about a classic Ralph Lauren navy (navy!) double-breasted half trench coat?
More Oak+Fort (seriously, friends, we are swimming in it at the shop)! I love the no-nonsense "hard white" going on here (which is also very grown up, now that I think about it)!
And check out the boxy construction here. Just like that first green top, this one has great drape to it, but this unexpected side seam helps to keep its structured shape.
Friends, I passed these shoes...and then did a total double-take because there is a lot of fun stuff happening here! The t-strap is curved and off-centre, and the patterns on each shoe are from the same fabric, but don't match up; see how there is a dark patch on the left shoe, but not the right? This is such a subtle design element, but I find it so organic and endearing!
From our friends down the street at Workhall!
Super fun purse! (This purse reminds me of the sneakers that Chandler brings home from work! "It's like they're on fire!")
And, my favourite, little feet on the bottom!
Meanwhile, over at the men's section: a down MEC puffy coat!
The back room is over-flowing again and there is some incredible stuff back there, friends! Helloooooooo Kate Spade:
And then there's this rockabilly dress:
Actually, there are about 15 more dresses like these that have come in in one batch, and they are all in larger sizes. I almost took a pic of EVERY dress! There are more dogs, skeletons, skulls, comic strips, floral prints, lace, plaid, planets and a photorealistic print of the Milky Way! Can't wait for these to hit the floor so that we can explore them all!!
In case you missed it, Red Pony is moving at the end of September. We are moving 10 blocks East, back to Whyte Ave and 99 St, down by The Empress Ale House, The K&K Foodliner and The Acoustic Music Shop! The latest renovations at the new Pony are pretty satisfying and dramatic! First there was this:
And now there is this:
Phew! Thankfully the If-We-Knock-Down-This-Wall-There-Will-Be-More-Light plan worked! So exciting!
While road-tripping in Southern Alberta last week, imagine our surprise to discover ANOTHER consignment store next to an independent guitar store!
At first we were all "Hey, look at that! It's just like us!", and then we realized that the guitar store was now empty and closed down, so we slowly backed away from it and decided to never speak of it again.
So that's why there was no blog last week, we were away learning all about dinosaurs, slurpees and rural Alberta radio stations!
I'll be in Red Pony next *Tuesday* 10-6 if you want to pop in and have a proper catch up!
