Friends, it took all my will power to not snatch up every single thing from the blog this week!
As I've mentioned before, Yumi has been a staple in my closet for years. It's hard not to love them when they produce pieces like this incredible owl dress!
I love the vintage, "modest" feel of this dress with it's high neck and bishop sleeves. But at the same time, it is unapologetically rocking the owl print!
I mean, OWLS for crying out loud!
You know who else is one of my absolute FAVOURITES? Like, pee-my-pants favoutite? Smoking Lily!! It's such a special occasion when we have a Smoking Lily piece in the shop, we should throw a party or something!
This dress has the periodic table printed all over it, and it has pockets!
You just never know when you will need to reference a chemical element by its atomic number!
This Kate Spade dress is a whole other type of special treat! I love the gamine look with the collar....
...and of course the foxes!
Sadly, no origins tags on this adorable vinyl wallet:
I'm pretty sure this is hand-made. I love the colours on the inside!
Another from Yumi (I really like them, ok?!):
This time: cacti!
My other top Canadian fave is Preloved! Each item is made by hand using discarded materials and garments, so each is unique! I love Preloved for all these reasons (A+ for sustainability; A+ for garment-with-a-story; A+ for originality), but I also love them because their finished objects are always well constructed; no awkward puckering, loose seams or poorly paired fabric weights.
Seriously, friends, ALL OUR FAVOURITES are in the shop! Like Edmonton's own Cinder+Smoke! Janna is off on mat-leave (congrats Janna!), but at least you can get your Cinder+Smoke fix here!
I'm still sticking to my purse diet, friends. (Ug, sorry. That was a total lie. But I only got a *small* purse, so it doesn't count!). This great (green!) Fossil bag will hold your water bottle AND your knitting, so no one who is on a purse diet should feel guilty about getting it because it's practical and you really, really need it!
I know bird shirts are kind of a joke, but they are so delightful! Imagine this at the office under a blazer; think of the compliments you'll get!
Not owls, but still totally charming!
OK, are we tired of prints? Here is a great, fine knit drindl dress from Aritzia:
And a flattering shift from London Times:
I couldn't let this distressed Oak+Fort top pass you by either:
What's waiting in the backroom, you ask? Oh, only a HUGE BIN FULL OF FRYE BOOTS!!! Seriously friends, it's bonkers back there!
This week the girls have a combined teacher's convention plus journée pédagogique tacked on that equals to them having a FIVE DAY long weekend this weekend! Eeeeek! I'm definitely going to need to take a break to talk with other grown-ups about grown-up things like owl prints and cactus skirts, so I will be in the shop on Saturday and Sunday this weekend! Be sure to pop in for a visit!
Here I am in my Yumi cat dress, in 2010! (And I still wear this dress, it's one of my favourites!)
