Friends, would you believe I worked an entire Sunday at the shop and didn't break a single thing? Hurray for me! I also got a secret thrill when people came in and said "Oh, that's cool" and in my head I'm all "I KNOW, I featured it on the blog!".
How cool is this top?! I mean, really! It's like a European vacation version of a Hawaiian shirt! I love the vintage feel, the boxy shape, and the tie in the front!
Um, Italy?
At first glance you're probably thinking this is just a regular chique white dress....
....but you would fit in perfectly at Solange Knowles' wedding because the back is actually.....
....a cape!!!!
Here's a look at the hand-made skirt that Laura profiled on the Red Pony Instagram this week. The construction on this skirt is amazing, and it even has pockets!
Hey look, it's one of my all time favourite Canadian brands (and adorable brand name):
I bought my favourite Birds of North America skirt at Nokomis years ago. We are calling this lederhosen-inspired garment a "dress". Wear with a cute blouse and vintage Ferragamos!
But, SPEAKING OF NOKOMIS, friends have you heard?!?! Nokomis is coming back!!!!!!! They already have a great Instagram and new landing page. Jessica and Elizabeth will be producing a Spring/Summer 2017 line featuring updated versions of some of our favourite designs and dresses from back in the good old days. Are you standing up and clapping really loudly while stomping your feet like I am?! Subscribe to their mailing list here, follow their Instagram and spread the joyous news!
Were you wondering which vintage, block-heel Ferragamos you should wear with your Birds Of North America dress? These ones!
Stay fancy with this Ted Baker silk top:
This adorable dress was already on the mannequin when I came in:
Canadian brand FIG is an outdoorsy brand with an emphasis on clothes that travel well and look good when travelling, like this simple body-con dress:
I love the boarding-pass label!
Black leather bracelet and maroon leather bracelet:
Hurray! From one of our favourite Edmonton makers Janna Stewart of Cinder+Smoke:
And one from our other favourite Edmonton maker Bridget (I know her!) Smatlan's brand Fridget:
Not one, but TWO beautiful, silk Aritzia tops:
Our bracelet and accesory selection is nuts right now, friends!
T-shirt company Threadless is such an awesome supporter of the artist community! The shirts are printed with original art-work, and they make sure to credit each artist on the shirt with the title of the work and the artist's name!
This one is called "Sky Thief", but unfortunately I can't make out the name of the artist:
This delightful skirt has pockets too!
And here's a splash of summer!
So, the sale rack broke.....
...and this time it really wasn't my fault! I'll be in the shop this Sunday too, so come by and say hi and help me fix whatever I will have broken that day!
Quick note: tomorrow is the last Thursday that we will be open late. We're making a small adjustment to the hours and after this week we will be open until 6:00 on Thursdays, not 8:00. Hope you're cool with that!
And have you walked down Whyte ave recently, friends? Bamboo Stockroom closed down. So sad! But don't panic; the awesome and beloved flagship store Bamboo Ballroom on 104 street and 82 Ave is going strong! And tell your sister who lives in Calgary to shop at their Calgary locations!
